This video is all about mountaineering shoes and boots and I will explain the existing types and categories and when to use which shoe.

I will explain you when to use hiking boots and hiking shoes, which shoes are best for rock climbing and which boots are needed if you go on a glacier.

Depending on the surface and the terrain a different shoe is needed and it is very situational.
Walking on a glacier, on ice or in high snowy mountains crampons are necessary and therefore you will need shoes that you can attach crampons to.

If you are looking to go high altitude mountaineering you will need expedition boots. I will show you the latest expedition boots, their new features and how to use them in high altitudes.

I mainly use trail running shoes for most of my climbs and feel very comfortable with them.

I only switch to harder and more stiff boots when the surface and the terrain demands it, otherwise I am making sure, that I feel comfortable in my shoes for most of the time.
