Lego has replaced the vast majority of "adult" toy hobbies like model trains and building scale plastic models. The fact it is a hobby parents and children can share is what saved lego, once they started marketing more adult fan (ie expensive but cool kits).
ОтветитьThe kids who played with legos are now all older.
What I think lego should do is make more “adult” legos
Like Lego Botanicals.
I think there should be little desk lamps you can build or a business card holder.
Or Paper towel holder😂
Lego sales are popping off since the covid lockdowns a few years ago. They are selling more than ever before. People have more time to build them now plus they have sets for everyone. My sister loves all their plant and flower sets
ОтветитьI love lego (kinda obvious)
ОтветитьLego is doing pretty good these days I’d imagine
Ответитьleft out bionicles, 0/10 worst video ever.
ОтветитьI am playing a Lego video game made in 2003 while listening to this video. I have mixed feelings, but Lego is great.
ОтветитьCompany Man: Lego saved themselves by simplifying their business.
Bionicle after not being mentioned: -_-
Way late to the party, this will probably never get read but nontheless, I would like to suggest Lincoln Logs and maybe Erector sets as as follow ups to this one. I don't know how but i've been stuck in this channel for 4 days straight! lol. I swear some these stories could be made into excellent 1 season netflix shows. Smashing that subcsribe button.
ОтветитьI can't believe you forgot to mention the most popular Lego theme of all time, the one that actually saved Lego, Star Wars.
ОтветитьI am going to make them rise. I will buy millions of lego sets!
Ответитьwow
ОтветитьAfter making Lego when I was like 3 every other toy I made was just not as good as Lego I love Lego
ОтветитьI can't watch this without smiling and crying
ОтветитьThose computer games were fun tho. At least when I was a child
Ответить2022, lego hit another rise they never fell but r growing soo much there bigger now then in 2017, much more adult focused sets
Ответитьhi
ОтветитьIt's a real shame cause lego was killing it somr from 2004 to 2010 with Knights Kingdom 1&2, build your own train, pirates, exo-force and space. Guess all that money went to video games and smartphone games.
ОтветитьThis is why Betty White left us... No more fun to be had.
ОтветитьHappy 5th Birthday Company Man
ОтветитьLegos were everything to me between 1997-1999.
ОтветитьI have LEGO sets, going back to the early 70's. I've never parted with any of them. They're like heirlooms.
ОтветитьLego was my childhood. Probably one of my longest lasting obsessions. I still love legos today, despite the fact that I have nowhere to store my own, no money to buy them, and no time to build with them. I do still watch the shows and movies. Being a sheltered homeschool kid, lego and veggie tales was about all the TV I got.
Ответитьwhy tf u have this fucking depressed tone my god your voice is triggering me so much jeez
ОтветитьMars Mission was my childhood, air pump that blast foam darts, big ship that stores a mining cart as well as pulling it apart to make 2 extra small ships plus a flying ship that can transform into a land driving vehicle.
Not only that but you have an RTS game that got me into Starcraft and Age of Emipres. Good times, good times
Nothing like stepping on a Lego barefooted in the middle of the night. But at 48, instill enjoy playing with them every once in awhile.
ОтветитьBought the licensed Ducati sport bike. It was amazing. Now i need the $300 BMW sportbike
ОтветитьI've just gotten back into Lego. I'm picking up a large set tomorrow! Can't wait to get started on it!
ОтветитьLEGO is for adults too! Great video!
ОтветитьLegos are a huge part of my childhood. I was born down the road from the original '99 lego land in California a year after it opened. Man those were good times. I hope lego stays running for a long time, they really are something special and i imagine a big part of other kid's childhoods as well :)
ОтветитьDane= LEGOS
Swede=Minecraft
World ❤Block games
Well luckily for LEGO in 2020 their profits were higher than 2016.
ОтветитьPlease do one on Bionicles! What happened to those??
ОтветитьLego
Handgo
Facego
Feetgo
this video wasn't very well-made.. returning to form wasn't what saved LEGO- they took a risk on Bionicle and it saved them, which was an idea from the new CEO that you didn't bring up until much later in the video.. it feels like this video was one graph you showed four times - one that only showed the last 12 years of an over 50 year old company. It also seemed like you put a greater emphasis on more recent years for the company, even though the story of their rise and fall should all be reporting on the company PRIOR to the fall, as in from the 60s to the 2000s.. which this video doesn't do as good a job of reporting on. For number 3 on "Things LEGO were doing that didn't make much sense/profit" you put OTHER and it remained in the video and you presented it as fact, and then reflected on it, stating in your own video "it wasn't very specific the first time". Here's a small, comprehensive list of things you could have written/reported on instead of OTHER -other themes/things LEGO were doing before 2003 that didn't make much money/sense:
Jack Stone, which was introduced in 2001 and discontinued in 2003, and changed the look of the default minifigure in order to compete with other action figure brands, notably G.I. Joe.. which had a revamped classic collection that was quite popular around that time
Cybermaster, the 1998 predecessor to LEGO Mindstorms, which became outdated at around that time due to conflicts with Windows Operating systems after Windows 98
They released 3 videogames in 2000.. to varying reviews, almost all leading to a loss in profits..
.. as well you could have talked about things the Company attempted that didn't pan out as profitably as they had hoped.. you have to imagine that the reception of the first two Star Wars Prequel films being what they were must have been disappointing at around that time, as Star Wars is/was a definite cash cow for LEGO
Their first attempt to create Bob the builder sets came at around that time, hoping the brand recognition of the children's animated show might move products which didn't pan out as they hoped
They even attempted to make Disney sets at around that time, trying to do a similar cash-in with sets aimed at children featuring Mickey Mouse but that attempt ended the same year and they wouldn't reset that business relationship with the Mouse again until 2013
They tried everything.. ninjas came back, cowboys came back, stunts came back, nothing was working.. and they all had to be discontinued in favor of a much leaner part selection... and a much greater focus on Bionicle, which were cheap and made great gifts, with redesigned ball joints and projectile shooters as a core focus of the theme that proved a hit with a specific generation of LEGO fans.
TL;DR skip this nerd's stupid video and go watch Toys that Made Us on Netflix - LEGO
I think LEGO ninjago is the best thing LEGO has ever made and I’m talking about the show
ОтветитьI grew up in Southern California and I left for Indiana in 1997..... Lego had announced earlier they were building LegoLand in Carlsbad, just north of where I was leaving, in San Diego....... A few of my college friends volunteered to help build it in my name bcse I felt like it was almost against my religion that I wasn't able to help with the construction
ОтветитьI had the time of my life hearing you trying to pronounce danish words, since the language is ridiculously hard and has an unnecessary amount of vowels like æ å and ø. And things are almost never pronounced as they are written so Leg godt is pronounced more like Laj got. Godt sounds like God but with a T instead of a D.
In case anyone was curious lol
I think Lego is in the up and up. They’re really tapping into an adult audience that grew up with them with the Ideas series.
I’m always looking for deals on their Duplo series for my little one
Since this video Lego is now larger than ever. Can you make a video on another beloved product and claim they’re on the decline to jinx them back into stability
ОтветитьThey are just getting to expensive with there Licensed products.
ОтветитьThere's a "Lego Land" mega store in the mall of America here in Minnesota, it's had one if the biggest Lego collection and statues suspended above the store itself, it's still open today but is constantly changing throughout the years. I remember visiting it as a kid and playing with the Legos then many years later taking my kids there it's so surreal
Ответитьlets also not forget they've made quite a handful of video games, well funded more like and produced so that also cuts into their profits and sales. Lego to me is more than just a toy. They have games, movies and even shows. All of the media they produce can later be turned into toy sets which gives them HUGE chances to make a ton of money. They rely on third parties to make deals with them.
ОтветитьI think video games are hurting the Lego industry
ОтветитьBro I saw this and then bought two Lego sets because I felt like it
ОтветитьIf you haven't yet a hot wheels video could be cool
ОтветитьDon't forget about Lego's robotic saviors...
Unity Duty Destiny
Just wonder if anyone to see a video about Bandai, basically like Lego, at a bigger scale
