Anyone who is wondering what the little white streaks in the northwestern part of the occupied Germany map are, those are the American-controlled ports. Since the USA isn't even on the same continent as Germany, they were given the landlocked southeastern occupation zone, furthest from the other three occupying countries. I don't know the details, but presumably, with the rest of the North Sea coast occupied by the UK, the Americans got to occupy Bremen, Bermerhaven, and some other port(s) so they could handle more of their own logistics (this was before mass airlifts were possible, everything went by boat).

If I remember, Georing didn’t just try to assume power, he got a message from hitler in a depressive state hinting he was about to be appointed due to the poor conditions in Berlin, and he sent a response saying he was ready and if he didn’t hear back he would assume the worse, which Boreman used to convince a manic Hitler that Georing was a traitor.
