Lol oops just learn I was flossing incorrectly thanks for this video. I just started flossing and my gums don't bleed anymore after I started flossing daily.

Today I had my three month cleaning with a new hygienist. She explained I have been flossing incorrectly. I never knew the proper way until today. Go figure. I needed a deep gingivitis scraping which wasn't/isn't any fun. Hopefully at my next 3 month cleaning I'll see improved results on my end. 👏

I'm anxious that when scraping down is not gonna push your plaque into the gum right? Can you tell me more about that? I know it's 'up' and down but when it down, can the floss get the plaque stuck?(i always do sawing and i feel gum itchy all the time after flossing 🤤)

I floss my teeth properly everyday and the dentist said I have cavities in the middle of almost every tooth. I don’t understand how did I get so many cavities in six months 😢

Why doesnt my dentist look like this?

I'm 27 and I've been using floss picks because it was easier for me to do the C shape hug, but I knew I needed to start using regular floss. After watching how long it needs to be and how to wrap it around, I have been messing with the floss for the last 20 minutes. I can feel the difference. i still need to find my way to easily use regular floss, but I'm gonna force myself to practice - especially on my days off! Thank you so much, Whitney. I’ve been flossing wrong all these years. Was not wrapping it around my middle finger. Was using my first finger. Plus I didn’t know it was possible to pull out my teeth and set them on the table. Woulda saved me a lot of aggravation.

No wonder i keep bleeding from one of them. Dentist kept telling me not to hit the gum. Good thing I looked this up.

I find it difficult using the string. Im currently using one of those small forks with a string attached. Does the same technique apply?

How come the comments to this video are almost all positive reinforcement and of about the same length compared to the brevity of comments in normal YT videos?

IF you are OCD prone dont do this. Flossing is cumulative effort, so its enough to put it between teeth and pull up, so plaque there is always at least on low level never to develop into cavities. "Cleaning motion" caused me receeding gumline on two teeth i too eagirly focused.

You’re the only one who actually taught about the sawing motion, cleaning motion, and the C-shape which I believe is actually really really important!

I find it much difficult to floss my back tooth.. the floss strings cant get through and if they do they seperate on the way out

I dunno why this is for me, I just discovered this channel and I hate flossing cause every time I’ve ever tried, the string of it gets stuck and splits off into my teeth and I have to get scissors to cut my mouth free. I will admit I am guilty of doing the sawing motion but this always has been something that’s been painful, caused a fair lot of bleeding, and Ive thought I’ve maybe just been doing things wrong. Is there any idea for why the string may be splitting off into multiple strands and getting stuck?
