I don't think most people would confuse the two since the leaf textures and shapes are very different. In my experience people tend to get more confused with lily of the valley, especially when not in flower. Those leaves are very similar to wild garlic, the underside is slightly different but would be hard to tell for a beginner. With wild garlic I'd just recommend people to break/crush a leaf, smell it, and make sure it comes up in single shoots from the ground (not multiple leaves attached to the same stem)

Either way, it was a good tip to always make sure you're aware of each leaf you pick, never know what else gets in your hand if you just grab a handful :) very thankful that in my area the ramsons leaves get a lot bigger so I only have to pick a few for a meal

That's a good tip. I did get a stomach upset after eating wild garlic soup. I'm not sure whether we might have made it too strong or whether we accidentally picked some lily of the valley (also toxic) with it.

That looks like onion not garlic.

Hi, how many days does wild garlic need to harvest from the date of budding or planting?! Can he handle high scores?

Thanks! I'm just just starting my foraging and wouldn't confuse the two but can see how a stray alum leaf could get mixed in now. Thanks for the advise.
