I think my favorite Jawsploitation (Though it should be Duel’sploitation since Jaws is just Duel in the water) films are Alligator, The Car, Prophecy and Piranha

Alligator Released in 1980 is surprisingly good. Written by John Sayles (like Piranha), too. Lewis Teague Directed (The Lady In Red, Fighting Back with tom Skerritt and Yaphet Kotto, Cat's Eye, Cujo, and Jewel of the Nile). Quentin Tarantino is supposedly a very big fan of Teague's 1979 The Lady In Red.

of all that garbage the one that is tempting is Blades. Killer Lawn Mowers. Looks brutal and appropriately funny,

Question: would you count THE BAY (2012,) a found footage movie by Barry Levinson about a tourist town that has been overrun by parasitic tongue-eating isopods as a JAWS clone?

Asking for a friend.

Interestingly the Killer Ants thing if you watch the first season of McGyver (something I strongly recommend) the entire season is Mini movies in each episode and there all really good, there was a episode with the guy who'd later play Lando in Babylon 5 with a giant attack of ants with an inventive way to protect the hero.

There's good shark movies there's bad shark movies and there what the hell was they smoking when they made this crap what ever it is I want some.If we don't have people going into the water then there is no movie if we don't have town mayors who fail to realize public safety is vital as there is plenty of things to do when visiting if the beach is closed or no swimming allowed, unlike movies once a shark is spotted no one goes in the water and tourism isn't hurt by no one allowed in the ocean.

In 1975 i was six years old and way to scared to watch Jaws after only seeing the trailer on TV and the poster but a year later my dad took me to watch Grizzly so i was seven and i loved it..i sat my daughter down one day after finding a vhs copy of it on at the local market (a stall where i also found The Boys In Company C, Timerider,Street Trash and Eddie Kidds Riding High, all of which i still own and I’ve upgraded them to the best format available) and her being eight years old didn’t bother me because i knew she’d love it..and she did even though she go a little scared

Animals that have yet to star in Jaws ripoffs.
1. Hippos
2. Jellyfish
3. Dolphins
4. Deer
5. Snapping turtles
6. Catfish
7. Eels
The first one is kinda fitting given that hippos kill more people than crocodiles

Bravo! 😁

I cannot stress enough how happy I am to have discovered your channel.

It is direct continuation of celebrating everything cinematography is as an art form, written insanely well and presented in a sneer-inducing manner, as if every moment shown is a inside-joke shared with us, the enjoyers of everything silly and strange: fellow movie goers.

Great retrospective but you could probably do one just on "Alligator" ripoffs since so many of them were left out here (rogue, primeval, crawl, black water, etc) crocosploitation? Allisploitation?
