As I grow older I'm more & more of a hermit lol I love being in my home with my partner and cats. It's difficult to explain but I can feel drained and exhausted after being around some people. I end up feeling angry about things that are going on in their lives. I find that I can't sleep for thinking about thier troubles. I end up avoiding people because I feel like it's too much stress for me.

I can identify with this as a person who would always rather tidy my sock drawer than go to a party! I find people hard work to be honest and best handled in small dozes as I feel my batteries drain fast in company. ‘Networking’ has always horrified me and I don’t own a mobile phone because I value my freedom and privacy too much. Us introverts spend a lot of time observing and thinking, valuable assets when we do decide to interact with the rest of the world!

I love good people, but I still love my time alone to journal. (written, audio, and video) Just do you!

I have been coming to Mexico, mainly Acapulco since 1962. I do speak Spanish as a second language. I moved permanently to Queretaro, Mexico on 11-2-2021 at 79

. I moved because of the deadly crimes and the rents, utilities etc. taking almost all of my retirement income. It is safer, beautiful and cleaner here, and $850 per month less expensive.

There is not any shortage or limits on food, and I use home delivery, as I did in the USA

. I use Amazon-Mexico to order the foods, that i miss from the USA, and are not sold here. Grits, Louisiana hot sauce, Hormel Beef tamales, Libby's Corn Beef hash, Red chili flakes, and Campbell's chicken noodle soup.. Pork is all that I do not eat, and I cook 99% of my food.

Butterball has the best turkey bacon! The earthquakes were the deal breakers for Acapulco, but I will always love her.

Grilled Red Snapper and Pollo Felez are my favorite foods, that I order for take out.

My apartment has a fantastic view of all of Queretaro, all utilities and WiFi, maid service, and 100% furnished with everything, and a beloved king size bed, like at home.

I am working on my temp retirement visa, since I did get 180 days, but at this age, I do not want to do visa runs, and never know how many days I will get. It is better, if you can to get the temp retirement visa.

God bless the world, and please behave. Hands are for helping and not hurting. Put a d before anger, and you get deadly danger. Do not argue! No one can ride your back, unless you bend over. Only the strong survives. Treat everyone, the way you want to be treated. Karma never loses an address, and we will reap what we have sown.
DO THE RIGHT THING ALWAYS!

A friend is a gift, that you give yourself. People are put into your life for a certain time and some forever. God removes people from your life, if they are not good for you. Let go and let God always.

Never have been gregarious, solitude and silence is peace for me ... I have very few very close friends with whoom I keep in touch, by email or Skype, they are in Europe where I lived for a few decades.... they are like family.... I can understand very much all you said in your video .... Best regards from Montreal (Canada)

It is o.k., to be an introvert as well as the opposite. It is just the way your personality is built. There is nothing wrong with it.
And, if you are comfortable with beeing like this, it is just fine. I am myself are like that too.
There are so many humans on this earth and even though we are somehow all connected and even though we can not live without each other, there are many shades of us, not just light and dark, many shades. I think the universe, the devine maker has made so many varieties, so we can enjoy beeing different and not see fault in it.
I love the book "The little Prince" a lot. It is full of wisdom.
Particularly I love the quote of the fox, when he says to the Little Prince, after he wanted to be friends with him, that he had to tame him first. The Little Prince did not understand the word "tame". The fox explained, that it means "to establish ties".
This is very interesting indeed, for when we meet people and want to grow friendships in human lives, we also have to "tame" each other, establishing ties, getting familiar with each other. This needs time and to go with the flow.
Sometimes these ties brake and we have to let go what once was tamed. But if we think about it, our mind can keep those ties and connections forever. It is indeed the mind, that ties us to everything. The most truthful quote ever is by William Shakespeare who let`s Hamlet say: "There`s nothing good or bad but thinking makes it so." We think everything into existance.
Blessings and huggs from Rose-Cottage, Schurwald Forest, Germany.

Hi Ana, i'm from Brazil and have just stumbled up on your channel. I love the way you see life, i totally get what you say. I can relate to your way of living, i have very few friends, live outside the big city but drive there a lot. People in Brazil socialize a lot, speak loud, gather up in bars, i don't really like that. I live by in a house with 5 dogs and 4 cats, most of them rescued and adopted. I love animals and consider myself lucky to live surrounded by nature. I go to the city quite often to see my mom and also teach patternmaking. I studied fashion and i'm a painter as well.
Anyway, it's so nice to meet you through here. Do you have a video where you show your work? Would love to see it!

Love this video. I turned 46 today and have finally accepted being a loner. I enjoy being on my own, I love others just dislike large groups and social competition. It’s important and necessary to accept our nature. Some of us feel other peoples emotions and energy more deeply and it’s like we need that alone time to recharge and this is perfectly alright.

Yes. My sister always tells me I’m too isolated. I have a handful of good friends that I see occasionally, but I love being alone. I’m also self employed and work at home. I don’t think I could ever spend a full day surrounded by coworkers again. Seems so overwhelming. I’m definitely a loner. I’m very happy though.

I think people drift apart through lack of active maintenance. You no longer work/live/habitate in the same spaces, and you don’t create an opportunity to see each other. I think it’s hard for loners to do these things; we don’t know how to arrange social gatherings. But even phone contact can help. But it’s hard and I have let many friends pass through my life. I hadn’t really thought about how staying alone protects me, but it does. I have trouble communicating. I tend to be very direct and other people sometimes think that is rude. I don’t feel rude, I didn’t mean to sound that way, but that’s what they hear. So I stayed home or alone more and more as years passed so I wouldn’t risk upsetting others. Upsetting others causes me a lot of self-doubt and recrimination. Alone is better.

This was a great video and topic, Ana! Your Ulysses is just like my Inky :)
I'm a loner but wasn't when I was younger. I moved from Canada to Australia when I was 44 years old (I married an Australian). I had no friends here and eventually got employment here and worked. I had work colleagues or acquaintances, but once I changed jobs, we lost touch. I found that everyone already had their own social circle and friends they had gone to school with and known for years. I didn't fit in. I always felt awkward. I actually love my time at home now and have no desire for social engagements. Spending time with my family (I have 3 grown daughters and grandchildren) is very fulfilling. I do have one close or "best friend" here that I met through work, but she moved and now lives over 2 hours away. We talk regularly on the phone, but seeing each other in person is infrequent. Oh, and I noticed you didn't wear boots in the snow! When I lived in Canada, I always had snow boots :)
Lots of love from Australia!

I retired 3 years ago and while I have always been a loner, now I’m very contented. I do enjoy going out to be around others but only to observe from afar. I’m sensitive, so I feel as if my energy is being sucked from me, if I engage for too long. I love the transit or sitting in a park. I wear headphones too and my music is like a soundtrack for my wanderings. I have always felt I existed in two different worlds. But I have no inclination to be deeply involved anymore, other than my children. My home is my cozy nest! 😏

Since my beloved one recently passed away my misantropy is more acute than ever. Social interactions have no minimal positive impact on me specially in the misery banana country I live in

So much of this resonated with me. I am a loner but I still sometimes crave friendship and wish that I weren't such a loner. I feel less alone when i am home alone than when i am in a crowd. The reason crowds make me feel alone is that i don't know how to socialize around people I don't know and i end up being so separated from the group wherever i am.
Memories came flooding back when you spoke of your mother telling you to go out and play with the other children...that was me too. My parents would always tell me to go outside to play with the kids but i'd stand by myself.

When i do have friends in my life, it is usually only one or two. There are stages however, like now, where i have no one.
Most of the time i'm ok with that but sometimes it makes me lonely instead of just being a loner.

Recently I had a fall at work and am resting with stitches in my arm and head. But the good that comes from this is it has forced me to stop, take stock and to think.
I have become aware of how many of my work friends are simply not genuine. Why do I always have to make the first move to get a conversation going? Why do they expect me to listen to their problems when they do not spent time to listen to mine? Why do they promise to pick up the courgette plants I grew for them, only to allow them to die in their pots - well actually I gave them away to someone who really needed those courgettes to supplement their food bill!
I am alone, but I am not lonely as - in reality - I never had real true friends anyway, so there is no loss.

I resonate 1000% with everything you described about your experience of being "a loner," and independent of social rewards and indifferent to the fickle attractions and noises of social interaction. I am also highly sensitive, always have been, deeply creative, deeply connected to life and universal presence despite not having known how to identify that experience for most of my life. I never ever feel isolated or alone, but I feel like the white noise of people's scattered, cluttered energy drowns out the crystal clear peacefulness of life whenever I'm surrounded by people. I feel serene and full when I'm alone, and blurry and drained when I'm too long around too many people. I have a highly demanding job where I constantly have to interact, and somehow I've managed to do that from a place that is still authentic but impenetrable to the noise, otherwise I would be utterly exhausted every day. See, I understand you even though I don't know you personally, but I do see you and I highly appreciate your channel and your thoughts and all your videos on the little and big aspects of life. ❤
