This video mentions the “Women in Chains” problem at the start. And only focuses on the “Hand chopping” problem.
I’m guessing modern day Middle East still treats female humans as second class citizens.

Imagine a place where there is no crime, so if you don't agree with these punishments you expect people to commit crime?

Sometimes I think laws need to be ruthless to safe guard the fragile strings of a society.

Shariah doesn't sound too bad like the media or critics portray it.

Not Muslim by the way but I was of the faith once upon a time. Im thinking of a possible revert but I'm not sure yet.

Seems materialistic to me, material goods should not matter more than human body. Why not just make them work and pay back what is stolen with compensation? So if you steal $10,000 from me, you have to pay me back $100,000. If you cut off someones hand, they are unable to work and pay back the person who they stole from. Also, crime is not ballooning in modern world. Homicides are at much lower level than they were 100 years ago, and 100 years ago they were at much lower level than 200 years ago.

It being God's divine law doesn't change the fact that is cruel, brutal, vicious and horrible. And I am speaking as a person who actually loves the Islamic faith and isn't even a hater of it like others.

Religion is not about peace, religion is about control and violence.

More men have died in the name of religion then for any other reason on the planet.

Religion cares more about morality than it does human life.

Religion wants war, religion wants control, religion wants suffering, especially your religion.

Even if executed under the scrutiny of bodies and istitutions that ensure some type of fair trial, it is still a very barbaric punishment. These bodies and institutions are themselve product of obsolet social constructs, with a high charge of discrimination, especially towards women. Also, they are often practice in remote unchecked regions, where there are actually zero guarantees of fair trials. Yes, they might have been the solution one thousand years ago for tribal societies to keep their savagery on check and have some concept of social justice. But we should not aspire to live in those tribal systems in 2023, but look forward to better paths, were barbaric concepts as capital punishment by stoning or body part choping is not a reality anymore!

The problem with Islam and Sharia is that their are so many different interpretations of it and everyone argues about which is right. Sunni vs Shia, wahabbism, the extreme forms under Biko haram and ISIS for example. All of these interpretations with many followers and fanatics. Difficult to wrap my head around it all.

All laws can be reformed as time passes. in nigeria our muslim community have alot of beggars with hands cut off. i think in todays society some religious laws are obsolete and should be reformed. The idea of seeing the sharia as what is for all people is wrong As seen in aghanistan, and prospose by some muslims when they live with people of different faith, not everyone wants it. more reason why religion should be separated from state affairs.

After doing some research (wikipedia and several muslim and news websites) I have come to the conclusion that the maker of this is a blind fool. At least half of what he says is a lie. Anyone reading this, do more research than only watching this video, cause it's loaded with BS. Just one example (of many):

An Islamic court in Kebbi State, northern Nigeria, has sentenced a 15-year-old boy to the amputation of one of his hands for stealing 32,000 naira (about US $286) from a businessman, media organisations reported. So much for sharia not amputating the limbs of underage kids.

This is catastrophic. Having a very cruel punishment just to deter crime because it is "exepensive" "time consuming" and " ineffective" is an underdeveloped way to run a society and this is one of the maine reason that the Muslim World has never succeed in any country ever. It is not because of western imperialsm.

so in other words if i am poor and hungry i can steal without losing an arm, however is this law properly observed? The problem is Human Nature (sinner creation or sins are very likely to occur in humans for various reasons) and this is why the law will not be fair in practice in most cases. In this context such laws are dangerous inn my opinion. I'll prefer the modern western law system which seems less dangerous. PS in USA some states have the Capital punishment law (death sentence) and in many cases it came out that in the end the prisoner was not guilty. This law i also find it dangerous.
