Colle opening is a much underrated system for white as its perceived that the Colle doesn't give much for white, but the same could be said of any chess opening. The Colle itself is easy to understand, practical to play and amounts to a narrow field of opening theory. Some of the most spectacular games can arise as white opens the centre when its deemed advantageous to do so. This video focuses on black attempts to avoid the Colle ending which is advantageous for white. In this video Master Colle demonstrates a brilliant kingside attack.

Superb presentation, Ive been playing since 1982 and have an ELO 1900 and have to say thats one sharp opening. Its just so strong from the first 5 moves! I once played years ago teh London Evening Standard champion and on whire I beat him with Colle, you should have seen his face ! Great stuff, well done

Black was obviously a much weaker player. He made several mistakes, which allowed white to penetrate his king's position. A timely h6 would have prevented that entire attack. Right after Colle played Bb1 would have been a good time to play it, forcing the white bishop to either trade or retreat to a much weaker post. If he exchanged bishops, then black's queen would have been able to recapture and his defense would have been in good shape, with a pawn and queen defending the g5 square. Nf4 was also a poor choice, where he could have played h6 instead. I'm not knocking the Colle System though. I play it sometimes, myself. It's just that this game is a poor example of defending against it and might lead experienced players into a false sense of security.

Excellent! I'm loving the Colle so far! This is the second video I've watched by you today on this opening. You have a new subscriber and I'll be back to learn more.

Thumbs way up!

Tim

I've been playing for a long, long time now and still find your presentations very insightful and helpful as well as enjoyable to listen to.  I've watched most of them by now.  I would disregard any negative comments you receive, since they are very short-sighted..

It was a very nice presentation, but just a side comment, why Master Colle, it sounded a bit like Lord of The Ring.

One word for your work: Waaauw! I suck up your knowledge and will release it back out on the board, the next time I play. I feel "zen".

I do my best to play 1.d4 as much as I play 1.e4. I have won quite a few games with the d4 opening in like 12 moves or so.
