We are demonetized yet again. Consider liking this video to keep it alive. Thanks :-) EDIT. The video is now monetized
ОтветитьSeems to me that the Japanese used a reconnaissance in force over the border to test Soviet defenses, resolve, and basically poke the bear. The Soviet response was a maximum effort to send a message to the Japanese. What happened is a result of two different levels of force projection, recon vs maximum effort, thus the two different size forces and predictable results. I don't think this is indicative of how a Japanese invasion of the USSR in support of Barbarossa would have gone per se. If the Japanese send a maximum effort in June/July 1941, I think they could have succeeded in cutting the trans-Siberian rail line, cutting off the Soviet Far East, and probably advanced to the Lake Baikal area by 1942. That precludes any war in the Pacific and a curtailment of the war with China though.
ОтветитьDemonitization is nothing more than Soviet style or Orwellian rewriting of history.
ОтветитьJapan thought that with basically an infantry force with little armor and poor artillery it could lock horns with the Soviet colossus. It was literally wiped out in the process. Japanese hubris that with Bushido spirit it could win over a technically superior and better equipped foe was sorely mistaken. Nomonhan convinced Japan that nothing would be gained from attacking Russia. They went south instead.

Zhukov had the genius of a panzer general, the ruthlessness of a Russian marshal, the courage of a Japanese samurai, the ego of an American, and the stubbornness of an English Duke.

ОтветитьFor everyone here saying the japanese didn't invade Russia even Germany was at the gates because they're afraid... Nope..its ,because they had a peace pact ... Unlike the Germans who are a-holes and back stabbers , the japanese are imperial soldiers, who even if it might sound bullshiit.... The code of Bushido that they revise and used in there code of honor compelled them to honor the pact... Not that they're afraid... As a matter of fact its the other way around... The Russians were afraid to fight the japanese for they will surely loose the fight between two fronts... And stalin focusing on his eastern front ... The defense of his west are lacking .... His best general even argued to stalin that if he continue to take weapons and men from his post ... What will he defend against the japanese if they invade ... Sticks and stones....
ОтветитьJapanese by far, fighted well
