For me barbossa is death in the first movie not in the fifth

I felt ... suffering during my final year of high school.

I remember watching this in the theaters with my parents opening weekend and thinking that the blood pooling out of Barbosa’s gunshot wound was an extremely dark detail: Especially for a Disney movie.

Is it possible Koehler survived his stab by James Norrington and was just a wound cuz he did appear later in the Legend of the Aztec Idol comic book

I LOVE the way Jack gets serious in the scene. It’s been mentioned in the comments here a couple times but Jack being the goofy wacky protagonist in the franchise and then this one scene where he’s completely dead serious, not a word not an expression, just a serious gaze and it reminds you what this whole movie was about, jacks quest for revenge

I also LOVE Wills line when Elizabeth asks “Who’s side is Jack on?” And he just goes “At the moment?”

He started out as a villain then he died a hero

Barbossa did him dirty, but he's still kind of a brother to thim. Even if it was to release him from the curse and its pain, killing him must have been terribly painful for him :(

Honestly when Barbossa says “I feel” they could’ve cut the line right there and it would’ve felt just as meaningful

this was a perfect stand alone movie, i like to pretend the others don't exist.

This 'version' of Jack of all movies is thr best. Still a bit goofy, but not over the top. Smart, but knows not to show it too much. Cunning and still having the hate for Barbossa and saving the pistol for 10 years! The face he makes when he shot Barbossa is the real Jack. He wanted revenge and he got it.

A few years back, I met the guy to the left of the one who says "No fair!" He appears to be uncredited for this role, but he went on to play Jason Voorhees and Swamp Thing. Real nice guy.

So if you follow the logic, Jack shoots and THEN AFTER that, Will breaks the curse, and the bullet takes effect. So by this logic, ALL previous wounds should have taken affect on ALL the other pirates

I love Jack's reaction to what happened. He's normally not taking anything seriously, with some pithy comment, but here he's dead silent, with this look on his face of cold revenge. But I also love that he looks off-balance again, because now that the battle is done, he is back to the part of him that has adjusted to life at sea and is disoriented on land. It's a little detail, but it goes a long way.

Love this film but is it just me thinking it would of been so much better if he left off the cold "I feel" then he falls it makes it more tragic like that's what he wanted it's bitter sweet

That one guy who lost his hand after being freed from the curse must’ve felt unimaginable pain afterwards

Imagine the first thing you feel after years of not being able to feel anything is your own blood spilling from your body and then the cold hand of death takes hold of you.

That’s rough buddy.

When you realize it’s been exactly 20 years since Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl was released in theaters:

“I feel…old.”

How he returned?

Barbossa was a villain in this movie, but honestly I just kinda feel sad for him.
What's even more sad is seeing the apple roll out of his hand when he hits the ground. In the brief seconds of uncursed life he had left before death took him, he reached into his pocket and tried to fulfil the one dream he'd talked about earlier in the movie - to be able to eat and actually taste an apple. But in the end he was denied the pleasure, and the only feeling he got to experience in his few moments of life was the coldness of oncoming death.
That to me is desperately sad. He was the villain but his goal was sympathetic, even if the means were not.

At least he managed to get a second shot at it in the end of the second movie and ended up fulfilling his dream - just it came later than he wanted.

Barbossa's death is a masterpiece of writing and delivery. I love that he's almost excited at first, feeling for the first time in ages, then realizing he's dying.

Barbossa, never short for words, silently recognizing the irony of what happened and Jack, never serious, giving the cold expression of revenge. One of the many reasons I love this movie.

Yep he died the first time, as a villain we were all like “ha he’s gone now 😤” but when he came back and got our interest in him. Then In dead man tell no tales. We were like “barbossa no!!!😭😭😭”

Sequels were AWFUL. Should have ended here

Man. Such a sad death. I love how much they allowed the audience to sympathize with barbossa. And you can see a mix of pain and relief on his face when he dies.
