Adobe should make it smoother when zooming with the mouse. Zoom is so smooth with Affinity. Adobe should concentrate on user interface before artificial intelligence that never give you what you want.

I use adobe at work and affinity at home. Everything is better with affinity. My favorite so far.

Photoshop is sure to master all the tricks of this new program. Only it will not be training, but theft of intellectual property. Or maybe they won't change anything, for example, as an iPhone manufacturer. Android can show any video, codecs are installed in it, and the creators of the iPhone do not care that the consumer is suffering. Most likely, Adobe will buy the brains that create Aaffinity.

Give up folks in adobe are more focused on marketing or better subscription model.

Softwares that introduce themselves as industry standards, have shown that they do not care about the customers anymore, but change their policy to a subscription base model. Same with Photoshop vs Affinity (one payment), same with 3Ds Max vs Blender (free and open source), same with lots of others.

Affinity Photo really is a one-time payment. You don't have to subscribe to Affinity Photo like you have to with Adobe to be able to use only Photoshop. In addition, it is faster and consumes fewer resources than Adobe products. I was an Adobe user since 2010, but this year I made the transition for the benefit of my pocket to Affinity Photo since it has the same tools as PS, loads faster than PS no matter how big the project is and the saving and exporting time is faster than with Adobe

So this whole thing can be cut down to "Real-time preview", which is of course nice, but shouldn't take up a whole video. Also, it doesn't seem like you've used affinity since, though it's amazing and especailly now with Affinity v2.

RAM consumption of Photoshop and Illustrator is the major reason I decided to pay for Affinity. I can open 3 Affinity programs with the same memory storage as ONLY Photoshop.

Photoshop has the same problem as window,. it relies to much on legacy code that should already have been replaced. That's makes it so slow sometimes for something simple. the new arm versions could fix that, although I think they use code converters for allot of things and just modify it a bit. And not solving it.
don't get me wrong I love photoshop, and use it daily. but affinity is becoming a strong competition and they are working with fresh code. and rewrite a lot. in the years to come, they can become a big problem for photoshop. adobe is lazy, and lazy gets punished eventually

The thing is affinity is just getting better and better and they dont tie you to a subscription model only.

I left adobe since cS6 i switched over to serif draw and serif photo which affinty is the same company and have never looked back.i upgraded to affinity whe the switch over happened. I used to design shop signs with the software and some of the signs are still up today. Yes adobe software are superior in some aspects however for me they cant justify the price to get the same job done

"If you look at it with the eyes of the graphics designer"

Like, that's the thing. Affinity is better for anyone who needs access to art tools, but can't justify the montly expense. As a hobbiest game designer, there's no way I can justify Photoshop.

There's literally nothing Adobe has that can excuse the insane pricing for CC. Arguably the very best video editor and, without comparison, the best colorist suite, DaVinci Resolve, costs around 300€ (free if you buy hardware from Blackmagic), and the updates are free for the foreseeable future. Also, the same license works for Fusion. Additionally, add the 180€ for the Affinity 2 universal license for their photo and design suite. Now you have more or less the same functionality as Adobe CC, except for the 100GB cloud storage, which you can get from Google for 2€/month. So that's 480€ one time. Then there's the Adobe CC suite for 544€/year. Let's calculate for the next five years, and that's 2740€. The premium argument for Photoshop I can withstand while gritting my teeth, but that evens out against Resolve and its stability. I had to move away from Premiere years ago since I just wasn't able to trust it with fast-paced customer work. Resolve was just updated to 14.5 back then, which was still so far from what it is now, but I was able to live with it because it didn't crash and disrupt my projects on a daily basis. So no, there's no excuse for Adobe pricing, and anyone who says bogus things like that is just brand loyal. The same goes for every "industry standard" program today. If something says "industry standard for so and so many years," that's an indicator to steer away as far as possible.

I`ve never tried PH, but I heard much good (and bad) about it. I have used AF for years now, and am very happy with it. It looks a lot like Photoshop, I guess. I like how you describe functions being better in PS. But I understand that I don`t need an upgrade. Besides, I am not into renting programs. Hence I recently bought the three programs from Affinity (version 2) for half the price for unlimited downloads and platforms. I like to own my creation stuff.
Thanks for the informative video.

(In Affinity you dont have to open the Assistant menu every time you want to switch from a child layer to a new layer, and vice versa. You can drag it to the desired position. But I guess you already knew that)

I do photography as a hobby and I invested a good amount of money in equipment, I have been a Photoshop user since maybe 2011, and I honestly can't justify a subscription model for Photoshop. I'm thinking about moving to affinity photo, can anyone who already made the move tell me what to expect? Or how is it going for them?

f___ photoshop.

after over 26 years, i went to affinity. yeah, there are a few things i'll miss (true grit needs to get with the action on v2) but that's made up for by the lack of a million snafus, program freezes and idiotic online/chat & telephone "service" fools stuck in mindless scripts. there's a constant language and cultural barrier. after one of those dummies MADE THINGS MUCH WORSE, i deleted all cc junk, got a $5/mo incopy subscription (to keep using fonts), and downloaded affinity photo, publisher & designer. there's a little workflow modification but i've found affinity files take up half the space, the programs themselves are about 10% of what adobe needed, they open infinitely faster, files are ready in a flash instead of "i think i'll go make another cup of coffee while this 4gig file takes five minutes to load on my brand new 16gig m1 pro macbook because adobe sucks."

that could be because only one program opens in the background with affinity photo (or publisher or designer), not 20 memory-and-cpu-sucking surveillance capitalism leeches like adobe forces.

to top it off, a hundred bucks buys the equivalent of p-shop, illustrator and indesign FOREVER. updates? c'mon down! had it a year? have it two! v3.0 gonna cost ya? so what! that'll be in 4, 5 or 6 years and i'll have saved thousands by freeing myself from adobe's greed and self-entitled foolishness.

this weekend (about 4 hrs of playing around) i've managed to import over 1,000 kyle and true grit brushes, and discovered that one click and a palette is created from a file which is available to any file. as for video, i have that new mac which came with final cut pro PLUS, as a musician, logic pro and much more.

i enjoy learning new things and best of all, i feel a great burden has been lifted from my shoulders.
