Wow. Thanks for all the kind words everyone they mean a lot to me. I want to say it again that Joe and I are still good friends and will be for many many years or until he stops buying copies of Snatcher for me to pilfer and then it'll be over. I'm excited to see future episodes of Game Sack especially one that I know Joe is working on that includes my favorite SNES game. And if Joe wants a cameo at some point I would jump at the opportunity. Game Sack has been a really great time in my life. Going to conventions and meeting lots of people really made me enjoy what we did. Plus I got a chance to play tons of games that I never knew existed thanks to all the recommendations from your comments. I've learned a lot from you knuckleheads and I hope you've learned a little from me. Thanks again and keep watching Game Sack.
ОтветитьI remember this system, it came out when I was a freshman in high school
ОтветитьThis thing sucks balls big time 😂
Ответитьgood bye dave . come backkkkkk
ОтветитьI miss Dave!
ОтветитьDave.
ОтветитьYou crouch in front of the mailbox when the building explodes in Batman Returns on the Lynx, and that way you take no damage. The ad for the game on TV showed this trick, in fact! :-)
ОтветитьIn ninja gaiden you're supposed to throw the enemies into the objects to break them. There's a sort of cartwheel throw you can do, flipping over the enemy, grabbing their shoulders and tossing them. It was an okay game. Better than Batman Returns, that's for sure.
My Lynx died a tragic death because my baby ass didn't realize the difference between an AC adapter and the DC battery terminals. The AC adapter got a break in the cable right at the point it entered the jack going into the Lynx. So my dumb ass hardwired the + and - wires into the battery terminals. Let me tell you that is an excellent way to blow the backlight bulb.
Nah man, even at 7 in 1989, I would have rathered gotten a Handy from my babysitter than a Lynx to be honest.
ОтветитьDamn..... still difficult to see Dave leave
Joe you really are fantastic to not let the Quality drop
I could not do it mate
Gates of Zenda kahn was POORLYreviewed in this review.
It is stellar, it features multiple companions, ship upgrades, many different ways to travel, and great enemy variety.
Recommend playing this any way you can.
"Lynx Eats Boy's Lunch"
That was on a Lynx ad.
this was one of the most horrible presents my parents have ever given to me
ОтветитьJosé Martín Mesa González 👂👍👨🕹️🎮📟📱
ОтветитьAhhhh, y'all overlooked Battlewheels. Great game, best on the system for my money. Check it out if you can.
ОтветитьDave needs to come back. As a pair, you made gamesack what it is 😢
ОтветитьWarbirds really comes into its own when you have multiple people to play with
ОтветитьThe Lynx was lightyears better than the game boy!
Ответитьcya dave/ ps im making a new lynx game right now.
ОтветитьOn batman when the windows blow out, you crouch by the bin to avoid damage 😉
ОтветитьI gotta get into f1 racing if it means I'll get smothered by hot woman! 😍
Ответитьappreciate the game reviews, kinda wish you reviewed the hardware a bit
Ответить2 16 bit cmos chips, so by Atari math, that'd make it the first 32 bit handheld, right?
ОтветитьI was a proud owner of one of the first GameBoy systems. In its time the yellow-green screen was acceptable because it was portable.
I got really excited about the full color and FX, but the low rez gave me pause.
It was battery eater so that made the portability moot.
I still have it but also bought a Gameboy when the Lynx failed to gain any decent library.
Still on my first full watchthrough and I knew this was coming but didn't know when 😢
So long Dave, thanks for all the fish!
For me, there were dozens of great Lynx games, and you agreed by saying many of the games you covered were very good. I was thrilled with my purchase of the Lynx back in the day, no regrets at all. I wouldn’t have traded it for a Game Boy or Game Gear, no way.
ОтветитьAye Batman is one of the worst game and Gauntlet. I hate them. And even Ninja Gaiden is not a good game at all.
ОтветитьIn Batman Returns you are supposed to hide behind the mailbox before the explosion to avoid damage
ОтветитьType MAND for code on Chips challenge to get Mandelbrot generator
ОтветитьI bought a Lynx back when it came out, and my brothers and I had a lot of fun with it. Mine came with Blue Lightning packed in. I beat that game several times. It wasn't a particularly difficult game, and it was really pretty great at the time for an Afterburner type game on a console. Xenophobe was a good port of the arcade game. Desert Strike was good. Stun Runner and Hydra were big games for us. Chip's Challenge was one we enjoyed, and Klax was good as far as "connect three" puzzle games go. Todd's Adventures in Slime World had several different game modes, and some of them were much more fun than others. Warbirds had good and challenging dogfighting if you selected the correct settings. It was much more of a simulation than Blue Lightning, and thus not really the same type of game at all.
I remember Steel Talons being a good game for the Lynx. Shadow of the Beast was a very faithful port with excellent graphics for the Lynx, but of course kept its mega-difficulty. Toki was a very faithful port of the arcade game, and played excellently, but the limited continues and no saves/passwords made if very difficult to beat. Dracula the Undead was fine for a point and click adventure, but it was really too short. If felt as though it was just the first part of a game. Games for the Lynx tended to either be very faithful ports of arcade (and occasionally computer) games or to feel like they were the start of a good game that failed to include all the originally intended content.
The way they talked about it at the time, the Lynx was successful and profitable for Atari, but they failed to fully capitalize on it. They were determined to produce the Jaguar and make a success at that, but it faced much stiffer competition than the Lynx. I remember that a number of game publications thought that Atari would have been better off concentrating on good games for the Lynx and possibly creating a successor for it. It seemed like they would release another good game only when they started running out of money.
This is Steamdeck long lost dad who goes out to get milk.
ОтветитьThe lynx was way ahead of its time, at the end of the 80s a 16bit handheld, and even has hardware scaling, totally mind blowing
ОтветитьWhich would I rather have Op says, a Lynx or, a Handy?
That's rather simple as German, it would clearly be a Handy... (i.e. A Cell / Smart-Phone)
Wow a lot of these games look way ahead of their time. Kinda sad it wasn't better appreciated during its time. Some of this stuff would fit in on the Gameboy Advance.
ОтветитьAnd how much Games actually exists for the Lynx? Different Sources say a different Number between 70 - 80 🤔
ОтветитьAh yes. Ride of the Valkyries as an invincibility song. You thought Super Mario Land went the most avant-garde by including the Cancan as such.
ОтветитьStill waiting for your take on Atari VCS (the 2600) as well as Atari 5200 and 7800.
ОтветитьThe Lynx used lots of batteries 🔋.
ОтветитьLOVE THIS IN 2023
Ответитьgauntlet has a punk & nerd class? wow thats sweet
ОтветитьFrom a pure technical perspective, which was more powerful between the Lynx and the Game Gear? Game Gear has the better library which is what matters. Just curious what is more powerful.
ОтветитьLynx was so ahead of its time...
ОтветитьThe Lynx came out in Sept '89 in America and elsewhere in early '90.
ОтветитьThis system is evidence that Sega could have and should have put SOME form of scaling in the Genesis.
ОтветитьThe Lynx was my first handheld. It was fun for a while but soon got bored with it. I swapped it with a friend for something as a teenager, can't remember what for now. I ended up buying a modded Lynx with a McWill screen a while back to try again. I mean a few games are fun, and the nostalgia kick is cool, but let's be honest, overall it's not very good and I don't use it nearly as much as my other handhelds.
ОтветитьS.T.U.N Runner is the best game for the Lynx.
Its so fast that when you turn the game off you still feel like your moving.
