ОтветитьThe Scottish are the best.
ОтветитьScotland went bankrupt trying (and failing) to colonise Panama through the Darien Scheme. To save themselves from financial ruin and still be able to exploit other countries through colonialism, they joined with England in the Acts of Union. I’m Scottish but it’s funny how we always forget this fact when it suits us.
Ответитьthe drinker made me check thiis out
ОтветитьI'd definitely be up for a walk to that mountain.
ОтветитьDisagree its class being Scottish 😅
ОтветитьDoes anyone notice that Sickboy (who is an English actor) turns his head to Renton when he says that English are wankers."Oh,now it's getting interesting..."😂
ОтветитьMost of the North of England feels more solidarity with the Scottish than with Southern England. “Effete arseholes” perfectly sums up this shit tory government.
ОтветитьGeorge Lucas watched this and said “ah yes perfect, Obi Wan”
ОтветитьThere's braveheart, then there's this, every scotland can appreciate both😂😊
ОтветитьU watch this and remember what cinema COULD be…speaking of shite these days
Ответитьwow back when humans could make good movies - miss those days.
Ответитьspotted the train
ОтветитьTake this entire diatribe, swap out the words "Scottish" for Australian and "English" for American and you have a pretty good idea how I feel about my country right now.
ОтветитьJonny Lee Miller and his virtually non-existent Scots accent.
ОтветитьWhen you casually ask “how’s going?” to a random Scottish person
ОтветитьThank god this has subtitles
ОтветитьI wonder why Begbie wasn't there
ОтветитьBear in mind at this point, Tories and Thatcherism had decimated UK industrialism. Unemployment was rampant and class divisions widened. Edinburgh was filled with decrepit council houses and flooded with Heroin. Mark Renton's state of mind and worldview was created in this environment, so yeah, he's not very enthusiastic about being Scottish.
ОтветитьIt's hard to judge what's playing in the Scottish soul. However this scene is so 1000% Polish what we were feeling in 80's 90's in the previous century. The only change is to replace English with German/Soviet and Renton would express all the grief, frustration of Polish soul that time. So miserable. That vodka he's drinking & anger fit so well.
ОтветитьSomehow Frankie Boyle must be smiling at this rant.
ОтветитьPeople who need subtitles for this film are wankers
Ответить👍❤️👏❤️👌
Ответить"We're ruled by effete assholes, Tommy!"
ОтветитьOne of my favorite segments from one of my favorite movies.🔥❤️
ОтветитьTürkler burda mı? :D Helal olsun Atalarımıza.
ОтветитьFun fact, the train station wasn't even in the script. On the day of the shoot Robert Carlyle pretended to be a train station, as a joke. D.Boyle loved it so much, it was left in the film.
ОтветитьScottish people are amazing. They shouldn't think so poorly of themselves. Best wishes from Poland.
ОтветитьJames Watt was Scottish whose stream engine started the First industrial revolution.
ОтветитьLowest of the low
ОтветитьHey kids! Tommy is played Kevin McKidd. Whose also Soap McTavish on Call of Duty. There you go. On your way
ОтветитьEnglish are more than wankers, come on. They are a motherfckrs too
ОтветитьChoose life choose Mongolian 💛🇰🇷
Ответитьits the English subtitles that makes it great.
But I am so happy to report that I can understand it anyway. and I'm Aussie.
filmed at corrour train station highest train station in uk
ОтветитьI gather this is in The Cairgorns but can anyone tell me where exactly? I don't mean the coordinates just which village it's nearest too
Ответитьken whit , its no shite bein Scottish , its absolutely fuckin top class.
ОтветитьSad scene. This is basically Tommy’s last ditch effort to find some meaningful connection with his friends before he dives off the deep end. And they couldn’t care less. He deserved better than them.
ОтветитьEpic Scene! Poor Tommy!
Scotland must be really beautiful. Someday I'll visit that country.
🏴🏴❤️
ОтветитьY'know Tommy should've just cut Rents and Sick Boy out of his life!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Begbie as well!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! He was better than them!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
ОтветитьGaelic subtitles would of been proper
ОтветитьDilemas
ОтветитьGen z issue
ОтветитьWe feel the same about Spanish Empire in Latin America...
ОтветитьLOL..."a decent culture".
What, you mean that culture that is arguably one of the most inventive, inquisitive, sophisticated cultures that has ever existed?
That culture that built much of the modern world?
That gave the world Shakespeare, Byron, Turner, Dickens, Newton, Darwin, Turin, Hawking, Whittle, Fleming, Brunei, that climbed mountains and crossed oceans, that inventoried the world, that took its games and sports, its legal system, its parliamentary system, and gave it to the world, and laid the foundations for civilization and prosperity across huge swathes of the globe?
Who would they prefer to be colonised by?
Which culture is "decent"?
Spain?
Mongolia?
Pakistan?
Maybe, Tunisia... Iceland...Arab Muslims?
Face it, Scotland was an enthusiastic and commited empire builder that benefited hugely...so save the snivelling self pity.
Será que sou o único
Ответитьthis scene is beautiful in some depressing way
ОтветитьHe doesn't say this to anyone in the book. This scene is cut out from one of his many internal monologues.
Imagine being trapped in Renton's head for 12 hours straight. That's the book.
