Great video.. please include Canada next time
ОтветитьSo glad I live in Vancouver, BC…according to these maps we get no weather at all! Stops right at the border. That said thanks Juan for all the details of the latest weather event. My wife and I were lucky in that we were out on the west coast of Vancouver Island in Ucluelet when the atmospheric river hit on October 18th. Wow! What a storm…incredible amounts of wind and rain!
Ответитьjust got power back from this.. was out 36 hours in Seattle.
Ответитьgotta keep coming up with new names for when it rains and there's some wind
ОтветитьYeah for most of us in the Portland area the depression was a fizzile, seems Seattle copped it worse that we did. Most of the TV Stations and Met Folks up here were losing their minds over it.. seemingly for the clicks and eyeballs. Rod Hill in Portland was the one local meteorologist trying to calm people down while still keeping people alerted.
ОтветитьThe wind above Lake Sammamish was much more than 50mph. Our entire roof blew off, trees on houses. trying to tarp it and not being able to even stand up is more than 50mph😂.
Then it just suddenly stopped. Very weird.
It came like walls of hard air, slamming the windows, and then was gone.
ОтветитьJuan, the Main Stream Media can't even be trusted to report the weather accurately. It's pretty disgusting......
Ответитьjust south of Seattle here and my power was out for two days just came back on this morning,.lots of tree branches in my yard and roof my neighbor had one go though her roof.
ОтветитьGloBull Warming is real!😓
ОтветитьI like the term Pineapple Express more than the newer names! Signed up for his channel and been watching. Very accurate info !
ОтветитьStick to airplane crashes. This seems like a political soapbox. Very disappointed.
ОтветитьWhat’s once in a decade seems like it’s starting to happen more then once
ОтветитьFlew right over CA92 and didn't wave...
ОтветитьThank you for presenting facts and not trying to fuel revenue through fear mongering.
ОтветитьThanks for the info. Many believe the reporters are doing anything possible to increase shrinking viewers.
ОтветитьSo this is a great thing for northern Calipornya spring melt.
ОтветитьFactual, fascinating, useful information, that’s what you bring us. It’s cool that you collaborated with Mark Finan, learning about cool meteorology tools.
Wishing you and your family safe travels and a relaxing holiday💚🦃
I hate the term atmospheric river.
Big ass rain storm fits better.
This over exaggeration in terminology is getting out of control.
A Bomb Cyclone,.....could someone please contact Greta Thurnburg and have her sail into it.😂
ОтветитьWell Juan, I have a weather station at my property in Concow above Oroville. It’s rained 7.5” since the start this storm. Hasn’t stopped since early yesterday morning. Looks like tomorrow is gonna dump too so I’ll bet we’ll have over 12” totals by Saturday morning.
ОтветитьThey're using dramatic terms to scare the population
ОтветитьHere at the top of the Lake Berryessa watershed, I've filled a Home Depot orange bucket and the creeks are running. Feels 3-5 weeks ahead of average.
Like you say, each water season, we Californians want to get our quota of rain. 'Desperation' doesn't set in until March 1, though 😊.
Liberal Media and big government to scare everyone
ОтветитьIt's going to be interesting watching what the Klamath River does this winter without the 4 dams that were removed.
ОтветитьI've heard it said that the severe weather patterns are a result of technological manipulation in order to support a certain Climate agenda. Nonsense! That's what I said. It can't be done, I said... but can it?
ОтветитьThe last 24 hrs Lake Oroville has gone up 2.5 feet. About 40000 acre ft of water.
ОтветитьYou would be a meteorologist on television that many of us would enjoy watching. Great fallback employment! Hahaha! Thank you for sharing this video.
ОтветитьThank you for this!🙏Will you PLEASE CHECK OUT THE CalFire Incidents Map from the Department of Forestry. It shows since a few days ago a BUNCH of GREEN PLUMES (depicted) as recently APPROVED for “CONTROLLED BURNS” which appears some just were done, and there are two new fires since the approval, which are under investigation, it says. I don’t know if they were some of the controlled burning. What is strange, is HOW MANY and all appeared at about the same time as the “bomb cyclone” so it seems weird! Anyway, I sure hope you’ll check that out. I have checked that site almost once a day for months, never have seen so many, and GREEN depicted fires. They are in many forest regions. It makes sense to get our forests cleaned out of debris, but NOW? Some of the planned controlled burning fires DID happen yesterday and day before.
ОтветитьYou people are idiots. I'm here in n california amd I have more water in one day on the ground than I would after a whole winter and I still have a week more to go. Flooding and leaking are everywhere and soon it will all freeze and destroy everything that was wet. It's pretty damaging. I've lost about 1000 dollars worth of hay and fire wood.
I've been here 10 years and have not had anything like this. But it must be nice sitting behind your desk looking at life behind your computer.
Also because your so ignorant. The entire pacific northwest and been burning down for the last 10 years. So there is no forrest left to absorb this water.
It's funny that the "Pineapple Express " is now being called an "Atmospheric River " Well I take a step back when I was taking ground school back in 1973/74 .
Back then ,this air mass was described as a " Tropical Maritime " air mass .
This was fascinating Juan, thank you.
ОтветитьBomb…totally inappropriate for weather.
ОтветитьLove the outro, and thanks for the update, Juan!
ОтветитьI live in seattle, this one rocked us pretty good. I was out of power for 3 days. Since are still out, but, yes, always blown out of proportion
ОтветитьRain is not driven, it is syphoned from the orogenic lift over the Sierra's . The cyclogenesis from the bearing straight creates inetiia
ОтветитьThanks Juan. Great video. I live in Colfax which, as you know, isn't too far from Grass Valley. I don't have a rain gauge but I'm certain that we have easily exceeded an inch of rain. I've have been living here for more than twenty years. These types of storms are very common. We had a similar storm back in October 2021. Mark Finan is role model for meteorologists. His love for his occupation was felt in every one of his broadcasts. Great music and photo outro, BTW!
ОтветитьJust a couple of tech corrections, the HRRR stands for high res rapid refresh, bc it runs every hour, and the NAM is north american mesoscale bc it only models the smaller area of roughly north america.
ОтветитьThe media, ever since CNN got its huge boost during Desert Storm, (which made Wolf Blitzer) has learned that crisis, war, and disaster are good for ratings and for job security. Whoever coined the phrase “bomb cyclone” knew exactly what the effect would be.
ОтветитьWorst wind we have had here in about 10 years in Western Washington, though some areas had little to no wind. Power out for 3 days.
Ответить“This is totally normal”: 500k people in WA having lost power is not a normal weather pattern.
ОтветитьI’m sooo tired of the hype. Thanks for the sensible presentation
ОтветитьDon't worry about the weather! Humpty Dumpty orange turd will fix it with his magic marker!😢
ОтветитьLove that 310. I'd love a video sometime devoted just to your 310 and 310s in general. Patrick Cowdrey, Central Point, Oregon channel fan.
ОтветитьHay; you do a pretty good job at the weather! I’m down here in Dublin Cal. And we only got 1 1/2 inches here. No big deal unless you’re a news caster no a slow day. That’s when they continually show cars slashing though the puddle by the only plugged drain in the Bay Area.
ОтветитьBig bust here in Truckee!
ОтветитьI am by no means an official weather watcher, that said the rain guage in my yard (southern Butte county near Gridley) between 10pm Nov 19 and 7am Nov 24 measured 7 inches of rain. Glad to have a little time to dry out.
ОтветитьThanks Juan. The media wants to exaggerate everything so getting good common sense from you and Mark Finan is great. I really enjoyed Mark’s work on KCRA.
ОтветитьCan you cover the Cessna 182 Civil Air Patrol crash )with two fatalities and one injured) near Estes Park, Colorado, Saturday, November 23, 1924. My son was hiking in the area at the time. He saw the emergency vehicles responding.
ОтветитьYour photos at the end were beautiful Juan. How fun it must be to trade your jumbo commercial airliner for sporty Harvey as a change of pace. Love your channel.
