Absolutely love the opening montage.
Not 'this is best', a whole lot of 'these are crap!'. It doesn't matter which side of the aisle you're on, helmets suck... all of them lol
😂😂
Ответить🎉Good video! I've always worn full face helmets in the past, except for 21 years as a postie wearing open face helmets. For my own bikes though it was always full face. That being said I just recently bought a HJC i100 modular helmet and I love it! Particularly with the petrol station scenario.
ОтветитьIt doesn't really matter. I've learned to use them all. So now I just use whatever's available. It's like driving a car - what type of car is a non-issue once you've learned how to drive.
With helmets it's the same thing. As long as it can protect your head, which is the most important thing. Half face is a non-issue. Biker gangs on Harleys love to wear them and go crazy speed on freeways. Does it protect your face? Not passively, that's why part of not crashing is active safety, which is based on YOU as a rider to be CAREFUL/SKILLFUL. And then the rest is just down to being MAN ENOUGH to wear it.
Great vid, really well thought out 😎
ОтветитьGreat video - just GREAT!!!
ОтветитьYesterday I accidentally hit my bike into a banch of thorny bushes on road side in around 55km/h.....I wore a full face helmet and my visor was also fully closed....I just come out with no injuries in my face...in my hand n feets there are some scratches...My advice to all wear full faced helmet tightly according to your head size and of good quality helmets..
ОтветитьThis has just made me want to buy a modular helmet. Best of both worlds and it’s not the heavy if you get use to it
ОтветитьInteresting pros and cons there but one that you missed is one of the most important. It’s the psychological effect that these different helmets have. Open-faced helmets in the majority are used by people who ride slower, eg cruiser riders (the clue is in the name - cruiser) and scooter riders etc. I find That a very high percentage of those riders ride with more care and awareness due to the consequences if they don’t. Full faced helmets seem to give a lot of people who wear them a false sense of security and therefore they ride faster and take more risks. You can wear all the safety gear and the best full face helmets that you want but if you ride at stupid speeds then your face will be the least of your worries. But never mind, at least you’ll still have your teeth when you’re in your coffin after breaking your back/neck due to a high speed collision!
ОтветитьOpen face are my favourite helmets. But never in the rain - raindrops at 100kph hurt. 😁
there’s no denying the safety improvement of a modular or full face (in that order). Modular is handy for commuting, and if you go through a security checkpoint for work - just pop it up to be seen.
I like off-road full face helmets, and the newer ‘adventure’ ones with drop down visors. But road full face helmets I just can’t tolerate.
My pattern is town and short local rides is open face, and longer rides an adventure/off-road style full face helmet.
Full face
ОтветитьGreat video
ОтветитьBest of both worlds...
Bell moto 3 ✌️😎
I started riding in 67 the options were open face or none got my first full face in 79 still prefer a open face with goggles and a scarf over my mouth and nose
ОтветитьI personally have anxiety and when wearing my full face helmet I get extremely anxious due to the claustrophobic feeling and the lack of vision as I am constantly checking my surroundings even when not on my bike
ОтветитьMan, I was really loving your video until you called me out. Im that midlife crisis on a three-wheeler. Spyder F3 to be exact! I tried the full face and I actually prefer no helmet at all. Like you, I do put it on whenever I hit the highway or a spirited stretch. Thanks for the info. Very informative.
ОтветитьI have both full face and open face.
Having deeply considered the matter I would respectfully offer a sexual metaphor: the full face is like sex with a condom. Open face is like sex au naturele.
To continue the metaphor, I base my protection choice on where I'm riding, what I'm riding and how I plan to ride it.
That's all I have to say about that.
🤣🤣🤣😂🤣🤣🤣the intro was really funny
ОтветитьThat sneeze inside helmet😂 everytime.
ОтветитьJust wear face scarf and darker visor instead of sunglasses all problems solved for open face
ОтветитьOpen face helmet giving me anxiety 🤣
ОтветитьI wear an open face helmet with a flip down visor as I get severe claustrophobia in full face. As I'm a learner at the moment and never going fast or on a motorway, I'll take my chances. I hope that by the time I'm experienced enough for a "big" bike, I won't be as claustrophobic and can find a full face with good field of vision and amazing ventilation. All suggestions welcome unless obscene.
Ответитьgood video man, thanks
ОтветитьI may not be the best looking guy out there but I have grown fond of my face.. I would like to keep the payment from eating it.
I grew up skateboarding and know what the road can do to skin at relatively low speeds. Sooooo full face even on a old 72cc Honda Super Cub is good for me.. it may only go up to about 45 mph but that is more then fast enough for the road to chew up my face.
I'm into my first steps into acquiring my basic bike license, and straightaway I got myself a modular helmet for the lessons 🤣Full face would be too stuffy, but I wanted some additional front protection than open face/with visor.
ОтветитьI usually wore and prefer full face helmets but after surviving lung issues, I have no choice but to use half face helmets. I need to have access to a better air source while riding and I think I can get around 10-20% more oxygen saturation using half face helmets than full face. I can sense it because I felt a bit dizzy using my full face for a 30-minute ride while riding perfectly fine on a half-face. But if you're perfectly healthy, go for full face for protection!
ОтветитьI don’t know why anyone would ever want anything less than full face. Not only does it protect your face from becoming shredded Parmesan, but imagine cooking along and getting a fat ass bug to the face. Or rocks kicked up from other vehicles. Those Harley boomers with no helmet at all are crazy.
Ответитьhmm okay cool. so i’ll get open
ОтветитьThere are many 3/4 helmets that have a full visor like Arai and Shoei among others.
Ответить150 cc and up open face , especially if you doing delivery, 300cc and up module and 1000cc and up full face full speed
ОтветитьRULE 1=IF YOU ARE GOING TO WEAR A HELMET ; WEAR A FULL FACE HELMET.
RULE 2 =IF YOU CHOOSE TO WEAR A HALF HELMET AND ARE INVOLVED IN AN ACCIDENT; REMEMBER TO TURN THE PROTECTED PART OF YOUR HEAD TOWARDS THE DIRECTION OF IMPACT. IF YOU THINK THAT THERE IS NOT ENOUGH TIME TO ACCOMPLISH THIS DURING AN ACCIDENT ; SEE RULE 1.
Don't be stupid; a half helmet is half of a helmet....ALL OF YOUR HEAD IS IMPORTANT TO YOU; RIGHT?
Personally, I would always opt for a full face helmet for obvious reasons (safety #1). Pluss, my new Joe Rocket helmet is killer! Vibrant with colours that scream "yah, I'm a lady rider!" LOL
Open face at least offer the option of adding a visor if you so wish, so you can get that extra layer of protection without feeling "closed in". I personally would always advise against the beenie helmets but (and I'm going to stereotype here, forgive me), the Harley riders seems to love them. Perhaps it just makes them feel "cooler". To each their own.
I personally don't like the look of the modular helmets, but I can see how they'd be functional. I would be concerned, however, in the event of an accident. Would it break apart?
That being said, are you (QuackerJack) familiar with the clamshell helmet? When I fist saw this some years back, I thought it was an amazing concept. Not far off of the modular but very different at the same time. If I remember correctly (because I'm too lazy to look it up right now LOL), I believe that the concept originated from an Australian rider.
Anyhow, that's my five cents about helmets. AGATT!!! Safe riding. ✌
The last part was the best🤣🤣🤣
ОтветитьResearch has been done just lately on the pros and cons of open face and the results really surprised me have a good look on the web I like both but prefer open face and the old argument ensues if you ride to the conditions need i say more only my opinion. A good video by the way
ОтветитьHaft face for the country roads and full for the highways.
ОтветитьWhat about open face helmets with visor …
Wearing a full face like he said has a really bad Fov that’s why I prefer openface with a visor.
I don’t know i feel more confident with an open face helmet with a visor …
I have both, prefer my OF unless I'm going on the highway or at faster speeds (as you said, 70 mph, etc.) Bugs, sun, wind are not issues as I have a drop down tinted visor and wear a pulled up neck scarf. Please point me to the study that cites the 30% finding and actually compares the two directly rather than just citing busted up chin bars in crashes with FF helmets. Might that actually mean that FF helmets are more dangerous as more people tend to get in accidents with them? I only know of 2 studies done on FF vs OF, one in Germany and one in Asia (Malaysia and Taiwan.) Neither answer this question conclusively. Also, stats do show that 40-50% of crashes (in the US) involved alcohol, or when riding on the street as if on a track. So, probably the best indicator of safety is training, though a good helmet, no matter which kind, will protect the skull equally. But cool video! Thanks!
ОтветитьI full face Shoei no question. I still have the one that saved my life. There is no "if I'm in an accident but when I'm in an accident".
ОтветитьDude can u doo abt smart helmets, like Bluetooth available helmets and etc...
ОтветитьFull face all the way since It saved me from stones and bugs and especially a smashed face.
Also you don't want any particals or bugs hitting you at 50-135 mph
I have all 3 types and use them all equally. For short rides to town etc I use my open face with visor. Full face I use for long rides on my own. Modular for long rides with friends.
Ответить3/4 all day. There is Lots info about open face
ОтветитьPretty simple equation - do you enjoy having teeth and intact jaw or not.
ОтветитьI have full, 3/4, and half
ОтветитьFull face for myself. Maybe open face on country rides with minimal traffic
ОтветитьHow I look at it, the helmets have different purposes to a degree. If you are going to be ripping it down a straight, then a full face helmet seems like a must. If you are going casually on back roads, the open face seems quite nicer and still relatively safe. On top of that, there are open face helmets that do have pop down visors in which can protect against small things such as bugs and loose small rocks that fly up off the road. The modular helmets are also interesting to me, but how I see them is that they are full face helmets until you need to talk, in which you can then pop them up and speak, but the moment you are back on the road you immediately have to put it down for better function.
ОтветитьThis is a great video. Most stuff is just saying how bad an open face helmet is, this gives the pros and cons of each which is great from a viewers perspective.
ОтветитьGreat video! I've been wearing my full face helmet from the start (pretty new to motorcycling) but I just ordered a 3/4 open face helmet purely for rides around town when I won't have to deal with high speeds and all the bugs.
Ответитьcheck out the Caberg Horus .... 360 view visor
