Noticed you have the same Dew controller as me (HiTec Astro). I've just received this and wondered can you use standard phono cables as you would for speakers or did you get dedicated cables for this? Cheers.
ОтветитьThat looks wicked Glenn! I so hate you! Honey, I need a new saddle cause Glenn made me!
ОтветитьAnother great video Astrobloke and another purchase I now need pmsl
ОтветитьSweet upgrade, would be cool if somebody made knob upgrades for the other plastic knobs on the mount. Thanks for sharing this 👍
ОтветитьNice video and looks like a very descent piece, how is your experience with it now after a few months, and did you notice any problem by turning around the saddle ?
ОтветитьSo I just went to ADM to check out and maybe buy this saddle .. and I noticed they also make one for the EQ6-R Pro that is 1” narrower and squared off on the ends .. did you consider the other one too? What’s the advantage of the one you got verses the narrower one? They are both 7” long and 3/4” thick .. one 4” wide the other 5” wide.
ОтветитьLooks good...aside from being terrified you're about to slice your hand open with the Stanley knife! Do you know if this will fit the NEQ6-Pro as well?
ОтветитьJust found your ADM upgrade video for EQ6R pro. Nicely done Glenn. I got one for my mount (which doesn’t arrive until 18th June) the saddle turned up and was faulty! One of the bolts wouldn’t screw in! You’re right about it being a lovely bit of kit though. I returned it to FLO no prob, I’m now waiting for it to be returned. Handy tip about turning the base around so knobs are on the other side, I’m right handed, so will probably do the same, cheers👍 Clear skies!
ОтветитьThanks for the video. Got mine a while ago, and your video helped me taking the decision.
ОтветитьHow does the ADM upgrade compare weight-wise to the stock saddle provided by Sky-Watcher?
ОтветитьNice introduction to the ADM saddle. Very helpful.
ОтветитьJoe, I have the EQ6R Pro mount with "standard" saddle, but I am wondering what effect, if any, the slightly skew mounting angle has on overall mount performance (e.g. polar alignment and tracking).
ОтветитьI have the same upgrade ADM saddle all in black. Well made and holds the OTA mounting rail the way it was meant to. You cant go wrong with ADM.
ОтветитьI had to tap the saddle with the rubber mallet in order for it to set properly and the screws to line up. The old one likewise had to be repeatedly tugged to get it to pull off of the mount. Not a big deal, it did go on there. When at home, I set my rig (RASA 8) up on a scope buggy so that on a typical driveway night, I am able to simply roll it back into the hangar at the end of the session. I did this in order to reduce the odds of tripping in the dark while holding the scope and dropping it! Pretty good thinkin! Except, no good deed goes unpunished; the first time I tried to pull (instead of push!!) the buggy/scope back in, it fell backwards off the buggy, destroying the scope...yeah I had to buy a new one. Now I use straps, and ignore the claims that the weight of the mount holds the rig on the buggy.
ОтветитьGreat video! Just done the mod - added the XL saddle along with your suggestion of turning the saddle to swap the sides of the knobs - very straightforward to do! Mounting the scope and tightening the knobs feels much safer now!! Very pleased - also, for me, usefully adds a little weight to the kit side of the mount (my scope, camera and guidescope are relatively lightweight) which I think makes counterbalancing more straightforward. I didn't like the metal-against-metal feel when tightening the knobs so fitted a single M8 plastic washer to each knob bolt which I think makes it all quite a bit smoother.
ОтветитьGlenn, did your HEQ5 Pro have the same problem? 🤔
Great video 👍👍👍
Just used a losmandy bar on my eq6r for the first time and noticed this twist. Does it create any problems like pointing error or some such?
ОтветитьVery nice add on
ОтветитьThanks for the video! Out of curiosity, why bother with the extra effort of installing the saddle so the knobs are on the left side, could you not just spin the saddle around once it's already installed? That way you can have the knobs on either side rather than having to undo the bolts each time.
ОтветитьThank you for this video Glen! Just installed my new ADM saddle on my Eq6r pro. What a beautiful piece of equipment indeed! Thank you :)
