Nostalgia Critic's The Wall: NOT GOOD

I struggle to even think of it as a parody or satire of any kind, since actual satire and parody understands what it is satirizing or parodying. I dont see that kind of basic awareness in Nostalgia Critic's The Wall.

Art is made to provoke emotions, and Dougs shitty, shitty album almost caused my boy here to have a mental breakdown. So this is just, art of the highest caliber yes.

I don’t HATE the wall, I just think it’s an extremely overrated album (2nd most overrated Pink Floyd album behind The Final Cut) but Young Lust and Comfortably Numb go hard.

i have a feeling that if angelic to the core was never released, this wouldve been the album to break anthonys review format. it truly feels like anthony was on the verge of pure insanity and going into the same loose review format that he did with angelic to the core

The Wall is definitely one of the greatest albums of all time and one of the greatest concept/rock operas (as well as a personal favourite of mine since I grew up listening to the Floyd when I first played guitar as a kid (I'm 24 now), and are still one of my favourite bands and biggest influences), and even though it was the last album all four members of the band (David Gilmour, Roger Waters, Richard Wright and Nick Mason) worked on together they still managed to create something that would stand the test of time, and Roger managed to take a lot of his personal struggles from his childhood from his dad dying during war and England's shitty schooling/education system at the time and turn those into one of the greatest musical arrangements with each song flowing perfectly into the next, not to mention some of which would become some of the most iconic rock songs of all time like Another Brick in the Wall (Part 2) (Brick 2 was the main single but both Parts 1 and 3 are also fucking awesome), Comfortably Numb, Hey You, Young Lust and Run Like Hell. Meanwhile NC somehow managed turn this into one of the most abysmal listening experiences of all time and take away what made the original album so fucking good, also Rob Scallon is definitely an absolute beast on guitar so knowing that he played on that genuinely makes me wonder why he did that in the first place. Long story short, if I had to pick between this and the original then all in all I'd happily be another brick in Pink Floyd's The Wall

I mean, I don't love the wall, but I do like a few tracks from the overall Album. Think this is just another one of Doug's passion\vanity projects to show that he's "More than just a critic" when in reality, he's not creative, he's not overly funny, he CAN'T sing and he's not that imaginative. All he can do is take other people's works and bastardize it.

Do you know what I just realized? What were the main problems of his Thomas and the magic railroad review, sailor moon review, and Jungle Book (2016)? Well, they both one fatal flaw; lack of research and failing to understand the context. So, this makes me think Doug hasn’t learned his lesson from those reviews and why they failed.

If this album was called Nostalgia Critics: TPAB, you would give it a 10/10

Nothing Doug has done in the last decade was good. Doug has loathed his audience and what he does since Demo Reel failed, and he stopped liking what he does even before that.

It’s such a fucking unenjoyable listen

The thing that bothers me to this day is that there is a point to be made that a certain anti-intellectualism runs through PF fans misappropriating what Another Brick in the Wall means. You could say interesting things about people who don't like that they have to read To Kill a Mockingbird or memorize mitochondria's powerhouse of the cell status or are told they can't film the teacher unflatteringly and put it on social media pretending it's anything comparable to what Waters went through in his own youth. But to think the song is of the same mindset that school sucks because of what it inherently is as an institution of learning not just subjects but proper behavior, instead of the critique of corporal punishment that it IS? Oy vey.

I'm an egghead who's always been bothered people disrespect the free education they receive so readily. I've never suspected for a millisecond Waters is one of those people.

Idk if this is a hot take but personally I've always found the other great pink floyd albums (Meddle, Animals and my personal favourite Wish you were here) are all better than the wall not that the wall is bad oe anything

Cal unquestioningly siding with Anthony on this one says a lot. It's probably because Cal actually likes Pink Floyd and didn't need any convincing to tear this album down.
