3rd, 4th, 5th generation are evidential drugs meaning there was reasonable evidence found to prescribe this level of drug. 1st and 2nd are non evidence precautionary drugs. Meaning they are given as a precautionary during an emergency where tests may take 24-48 hours to come back. it is based solely off of prognosis of what the doctor thinks is going on with no evidence/confirmation. If anything is found in the labs they will reach out to you and prescribe a 3rd, 4th, 5th generation drug to complete the therapy coverage. This is the final diagnosis and recorded on medical records.
