i'm from the west coast late to commenting this and this just makes me scared for this September most of the areas of concern are looking they would come to the east than the west praying for everyone this season! (im aware it started but September and October are usually the time we get them)

Well looks like you guys have power lol. But just be thankful that you weren't floating on a sofa with your pets, and family with your head touching the ceiling. There are people that have lost their lives, everything they have worked so hard for. So wow lol. You heard tornado warnings. Like I said thankfully that you were not up to your neck and nasty, sewage water. While you're being sucked underneath the house.

I live on the West Coast in Cape Coral, Florida. We’ve lived here for 40 years and this was the scariest storm I’ve ever seen in this area. It’s catastrophic The area looks like a bomb went off. We live just a few miles from Matlacha and we’ve lived on Pine Island for a few years. We couldn’t recognize the area in photos. We had the high sustained winds over 150 mph non stop for hours and hours. Many homes are still without power and water. I was worried about the East coast because of all of the tornadoes we saw before Ian made landfall here on the West Coast. I’m so glad you made It through safely

It came in at Flagler Beach on the east coast where our daughter lived. No damage to where she was renting, but a lot of flooding in low lying areas and they lost part of their famous wooden pier.

This storm was nerve racking for me even though I'm in Texas. At first it was headed to the panhandle one of my brothers and his family lives there, then Tampa my sister and her fam lives there. then Bradenton Sarasota the rest of my family lives there, but the one that got it the worst is a family friend and his family he's like another little brother, they live in Englewood where the eyewall just brushed his town he has a lot of damage to his house but it's liveable except no power or water. I'm sure the power will restore soon, but the water plant was destroyed and they won't have water for 3 o4 months. It's unknown about the schools. His 6 kids attend. They were fortunate enough to get to Orlando before it hit. So his kids didn't go through anymore trauma than they needed to

There is always a extremely good and extremely bad. Florida is utterly beautiful, so many fun things to do, so nice even in winter. But when it rains, it pours. So many hurricanes, tornados etc. seem to happen more in Florida. I know you guys went there, fell in love with it, I don't blame you. But this is the bad part to that state. Glad to hear you are alright and that storm didn't damage your little home there. God bless you all!

Just to let you in the Tampa Bay area we truly lucked out. We had some damage but nothing compared to what happened the Punta Gorda area. What really hurt that area is that the Hurricane stalled over that area for almost 5 hours. That is truly what caused all the damage. I have been in Florida for over 25 years now and I have never seen a Hurricane move so slow. We are still under a tropical storm warning and a riptide warning from Hurrican Ian.

Soooo grateful that you both are safe and sound! That Hurricane was a baaad one! My brother was saying that it's ALWAYS THE "I" named storms: Ike, Ida, and now Ian. We here in Houston had Hurricane Ike to deal with in 2008 and it had a large eyewall too - about 50 miles in diameter which caught a lot of people off guard. Those type of Hurricanes are not slowed down much by land masses, nor do they tear apart as quickly as smaller eye-wall Hurricanes - it makes a difference! Continued prayers for y'all as Florida and the rest of the Nation come together for recovery. My company is already putting out calls for employees for Disaster Response. I work for a gov't contractor company and do mostly Environmental Remediation for DoD sites, but Disaster Response is also a part of what we do. God Bless everyone!
