Enjoyed it as a kid and as an adult watching my kids enjoy it. Sorry to see it go. It was sold off in lots like real estate in 2022. We would day trip to the area. Hit Crystal Cave, Roadside America, then Haag's hotel for dinner before heading home.
ОтветитьRIP Roadside America
ОтветитьExcellent video!!!
ОтветитьJust heard it’s closing. First went here on my first field trip all the way back in 1998 when I was 5. I really am gonna miss this place. To the owners, thanks for the memories and God Bless you all
ОтветитьI was there five decades ago
ОтветитьThumbs up Rob.
ОтветитьSo many fond memories of trips to Hershey and stops at Roadside America growing up. Still can knock your socks off!
ОтветитьHow much does it cost to go?
ОтветитьGoing here tomorrow for the first time in a number of years!! Nicely done video. Thanks for posting!!
Ответитьi love Miniature Villages thank you so much for the upload is wonderful
Ответить4 years later: Yes, how about the Golden Age Air Museum in Bethel Pa east of Roadside America off I-78?
ОтветитьAlways a stop on the way to Hershey between 1995 and 2002 This week I will return for the first time since I was a kid. I wonder if it holds up to those awesome childhood memories that made me want to make one of these too.
ОтветитьI remember going here in the early 60s on our weekly Sunday drive. Although it was a fair distance from our home in Newark, NJ, Roadside America was one of my favorite destinations. While in the area, we would eat at a family-style restaurant. We'd sit at a huge table with other families, and they would pass plates and bowls of amazing food around. And I remember counting all of the colorful hex signs on the Pennsylvania Dutch farm buildings.
ОтветитьIt smells so old in there, and it is beyond campy... But, cool nonetheless...I was there in the early 70's and a few years ago stopped by to see it... It hasn't changed a bit...
ОтветитьThis is in PA? Ugh now I need to go
Ответитьi wonder if they do a toy story stunt when everyones gone
Ответить@rockgor So true, so true :(
Ответить@thehorseshoecurve It's real easy to find, just look for the miniature power plant which is close to the handrail, and the bridge model will be right next to it.
ОтветитьWhere is that bridge located at in 1:06 Please write back.
Ответить@SKYwarriorUSN Yes, it is in the town of Shartlesville, Pennsylvania. Exit 23 off of Interstate 78.
ОтветитьThis video broght old memories back cool place!!!!
Ответить@ZacKramer Lucky you!!
Ответитьi live right next to this place and it is awsome!!!!!!!!!!
ОтветитьMy girlfriend and I were out to Kempton yesterday. Small town with a train exhibit. Kempton is east of Roadside America off of Route 78 at the Lenhartsville Exit. I have been to R.A. many times with both my parents and then with my own kids. It's great. And yes, America didn't have to apologise for anything back then and we shouldn't have to now.
ОтветитьWow, I remember Uncle Gabe piling all the kids in his Kaiser every summer for a day trip to Roadside America. What memories.
ОтветитьThanks! Roadside America was a part of my childhood and almost 50 yrs later it still is! I always see something different each time I visit!
ОтветитьGreat video, thanks. I went here last year and really enjoyed it. I was wondering what other attractions are within driving distance of this place? We are also going to Dutch Wonderland and the Choo Choo Barn and have already been to Crystal Cave. If anyone has any other suggestions, please let me know.
ОтветитьAhh, lovely. my sister and I were there as kids in the 60s and are delighted it survives
ОтветитьThanks for posting, we pass it a million times on the way to se my in-laws in Harrisburg. Always wanted to stop in. Looks cool, but I could do without the equating America to Jesus bit.
Ответить@robertwmartens: Glad I could help. Anything that gets more people to go visit the marvel that is Roadside America is good work, IMO.
ОтветитьNice video! I haven't been there since 1989 when I was 7 years old. I live in Reading; might have to take a trip again and see what I remember
ОтветитьThis is really cool, We are from TX and have nothing like that here. This is really an extensive love of a passion
ОтветитьI love this place and everything it stands for! I always trip drop in whenever I'm using old US 22 (the two-lane Hex Highway, as opposed to the four-lane US 22/I-78 combo) whenever I'm driving between Allentown & Harrisburg. Be sure to hang around for the nighttime Patriotic Tableau, with the scratchy recording of Kate Smith singing "God Bless America." Also strongly endorse the all-you-can-eat PA Dutch dinner at Haag's Hotel down the street.
ОтветитьThis is a great place. I remember reading about in the 1950s when I was a kid. I have visited it several times and it is a great place to visit. I visit it every time I go to Pennsylvania.
Ответитьrobert, that is cute, a real piece of americana. and i like how in the night pageant the goddess statue of liberty stands above it all!
