Starcom is my favorite 1980’s cartoon series.

I remember when I first heard about there being a Ghost Busters movie, and the disappointment that it had nothing to do with Spencer, Tracy the 🦍 and Kong, I was almost as disappointed that The Karate🥋 Kid wasn’t in the 31st Century and wasn’t about the member of The Legion of Superheroes 🦸‍♂️ 🦸‍♀️ The Karate Kid. So I never really had much interest in either ip’s until I saw Karate Kid II: Electric Boogaloo (All 2’s are Electric Boogaloos to me, as they should be.), because it took place in 🇯🇵 Japan. Is fascination with Japan a Gen-X thing? If so, 🙋‍♂️ .

Maurice LaMarche, who portrays Egon, is Canadian, which he snuck in mentioning the Toronto Blue Jays.
I only leard this from the commentary track from Futurama when David X. Cohen mentions it, and I myself am also Canadian.
Take care, and all the best.

Could I recommend that your next Real Ghostbusters episode commentary be on The Collect Call of Cthulhu? Arguably the best episode of the series. By the way, your content is fantastic. Keep it up, James!

Recently discovered your channel through a retweet by Michael Swanigan covering your Commentary of the Spider-man and his Amazing friends episode "a fire-star is born" and i got to say, as someone who also covers cartoons of the past, Keep up the incredible work.

Why was this the second episode to air in the UK?

I have some history of this episode as I had a used VHS copy that came with Beneath these Streets. I also own seconds here and there of this episode as well through drawings/animation cels.

I like the animated series more than the movie.
This episode was really special.
The channel is amazingly good... Thanks a lot to bring us so much nostalgia. It has no prize.

I love the episodes that focus on Winston more. Some episodes are better than others visually. I think this one has a tighter story and great one liners. It certainly has the best punchline probably of the whole series. I'm curious what your personal top ten RGB episodes are. There's so many good ones...especially the JMS written episodes.

I randomly saw a fully kitted out Ghostbuster on Barnsley Railway Station platform this morning. His proton pack was movie standard, very impressive. He was going down the platform scanning passengers with his PKE meter just in case they were not as they seemed.😄

This series gave me the right amount of scares and humor as a kid. It was definitely the music and the visuals. Thank you for a wonderful commentary on this one episode. I did not know about the angry face on the baseball, lol.

Will you be doing When Halloween Was Forever for the Spooky Season? 😁

Love the video James. Very cool hearing your perspective on these. And your experience seeing them in the UK. Also the Japanese animators did such a great job. The energy from the proton packs seemed to have a real life of their own as did the other supernatural elements they animated. Another great video James on one of my fav cartoons of all times.

Awesome! I admit I like this episode too, especially that ghost umpire and the way he pronounces Winston's name. :D Yep, I too had Volume 4 of RGB on video and had this episode, though it was the duller looking 1989 re-release rather than the colourful 1986 release, complete with trailers and everything, ah well. :) It's a shame that we never know half of the studios who produced these episodes, and many great ones were part of DiC's list of clients; Sunrise, Shaft, Ashi, A.I.C., Studio Giants, Studio Look, Studio World, Swan Production (OK a few of those worked on Jayce and the Wheeled Warriors and M.A.S.K., but this was a year after those show, so they would still be on their list with M.A.S.K. especially) and of course Jean Chalopin's own studio K.K. DiC. Of course, it could sometimes be a combination of studios, such as Studio Look was recently revealed to be the studio that assisted Toei in developing the Transformers episode; Call of the Primitives', along with some art students fresh out of a Japanese animation school, LOL. :D But still whoever it was that produced this episode (my money is on A.I.C. but I could be wrong) my baseball cap is off to them. LOL! :D But seriously, they did a terrific job with putting everything that DiC made all together and I agree with your opinion there, RGB did have some very interesting episodes in this syndicated season, including my own personal favourite episodes. :) That brilliant scene where Winston goes against the relief pitcher and the revelation of it all was very well done. Keep up the good work James. :) Something that I noticed though, a syndicated episode that ends with the Kid in Bed instead of the vortex, interesting. :D

I fondly remember the Real Ghostbusters UK debut. There was an article about it in the 1987 TV Times Christmas issue that got me pumped and primed for it. As well as a little blurb, it featured the fantastic promotional art featuring Slimer getting zapped by the four guys on the Ecto-1. I was instantly sold on it! I remember redrawing that promo art over and over again until the show debuted a few weeks later! 😂😂😂

Quick note, Baseball was first played in Britain in the 1300s, it was brought over to Canada in the 1770s, then trickled down into America, they changed a few things and it's now as you see it.

Definitely one of the better looking eps, just wish the whole show got released on DVD, along with Extreme Ghostbusters... preferably unedited of course! Glad the German DVDs had the English audio though!
