The reason why they transformed Joker into a musical because Joaquin was already in one "Walk the line", starring Phoenix as Johnny Cash. Unfortunately, the idea of making a Joker's sequel didn't go as well as they thought, nevertheless it's not his fault nor Todd Phillips (the movie director), who didn't want to make this sequel, but they forced him to do it. By the way, I'm glad you uploaded the times Joaquin got interviewed on David Letterman's talk show.

Funny how dave aint even seen the movie yet yet knows how horribly he treated him anyways so he knows its bad. How I miss Dave… He was uniquely himself. Now it’s nothing but hosts kissing up the celebrity guests the entire time. Dave didn’t suffer fools and was never afraid to give it to a guest. One of a kind, best of the best.
