WT101 is the best quality for the price in Canada
ОтветитьThose are delicious. I get JW Green for $55 in New Jersey. To me that's a great deal
ОтветитьThe old pulteney 12 is really good! around $75
ОтветитьThe Arran 10 and 18 are phenomenal
ОтветитьSorry but this list is garbage the best whiskey for the price is Buchanan 12 period
ОтветитьI would also say, that Talisker 10 still has a good price. Ardbeg 10 kinda as well. Old Ballantruan 10 though is definitely a better value than PC 10. I also really like Benriach 10 Smoky for its price. Which is strange, because I wasnt a fan of Curiositas.
Deanston 12 and Craigellachie 13 are also still great for their respective prices. Though Glencadam 10 is a better value still. From the less known I thought that Tomatin 15 (American Oak Casks) was pretty good. Really creamy pleasant dram. Arran 10 you mentioned.
Orchard House is amazing as you said. I would say that Compass Box Spice Tree is nearly as good.
Solid list. I would have Adradour 10 on my core list. It’s about $70-$75 US but punches way above it price in every category.
ОтветитьThanks Rob. Forget the GF 15 in the US.
Lag8 is $55, half of the 16. I just went back to my bottle after a long while. So good!
GlenAllachie 12 rocks, the other variations are a different story but the core 12 is the new standard for sherried.
Deanston 12, Arran CS Bodega, REDBREAST CS 12, Elijah Craig Small Batch, Glenallachie Cask Strength 10, Cragganmore Distiller's edition, Power's John's lane 12, Glendronach Parliament 21, Benriach 25.
ОтветитьIt saddens me to see Lagavulin 16 passing the $100 price point here in the US. Easily one of my favorite scotches. Great list here! Cheers
ОтветитьA nice list. I would have included Wild Turkey 101, Old Forester Signature Straight Rye 100, Loch Lomond 12, Glencadam 10, Ardbeg 5, Craigellachie 13, and Glenmorangie 14 Quinta Ruban in my list ✌️
ОтветитьGreat Review Rob! GA 12 is my go to as well! I pour this for guests more than any of my 100 or so whiskys(eys)! The 20-21 versions are super rich and dark as well! Neal
ОтветитьOrchard House is a gem.
ОтветитьGlen Garioch 12 is an insane value ..at least at Zyn. I'd always drink it back to back with the Glenallechie 12, and their both great, but the glen garioch 12 is a step better
ОтветитьLovely list....it so much depends on where you are in the world. The Glenallachie range is getting expensive rather quickly. The 12 is about 50% more than the Arran 10. Arran's range below the 18 is very affordable. Prices are jumping up unfortunately. And yes you definitely must try the Glencadam 10. Bourbon matured. More in line with the Arran barrel reserve than the 10. Over here in the Netherlands about the same price as the Arran 10. Cheers.
Ответитьdamn the Glenallachie is $75 here in NJ. never had it. guess I will add it to the list
ОтветитьGreat list. I’d go with the regular Lot 40 myself, I prefer it’s flavours and it’s a bit less. Though for value the best I’ve found is Dewar’s 15. Mainly as I can get 1.75 l. at Costco in Alberta for just over $50 and there is no beating that for value. It’s fine neat and great on ice or a highball with soda on a hot day.
ОтветитьYes Rob! Super happy to see Glenfarclas 15 get love! Goes toe to toe with much more expensive speysides in my experience.
I think mind would be:
-Glenfarclas 15
-Lagavulin 11 Offerman Ed.
-WT Rare Breed
-Phroig QC
-HP Magnus
-Amrut Fusion
Those are amazing values Rob and I've had all of them over the years. Glad to have backup bottles of some, not all. I would throw in an Irish low proofy one such as RB 12 or Green Spot. Great value buys!
ОтветитьI just finished a bottle of the Knob Creek 12yo, it was excellent. Buying another bottle.😁
ОтветитьGlenallachie 12 40USD, ARRAN10 35USD in Bulgaria
ОтветитьI can get a Glenallachie 15 for the same price as Glenfarclas 15. So I go for the Glenallachie. All of their core range is good value.
ОтветитьThanks for the great video. What was the price range that you used?
ОтветитьGlenallachie 12 is great and seems to get better all the time!
ОтветитьLaphroaig 10 must be included in this list. It's also a budget friendly popular superb whiskey.🙏
ОтветитьI love a GlenAllachie 12 with a cigar, but at 95$ over here at SAQ land, the whisky has quite a lot to live up to…
Good job though and keep ‘em coming! Cheers ✌️
I agree with your list for the most part, but feel like GlenAllachie in general looks a bit manufactured at this point and I’m not fan of that. Their pricing in the U.S. isn’t that great too, 10 is 100$, 12 around 70$ and 15 is like 110$
ОтветитьWT 101 Only $16 STL metro
ОтветитьGreat list! For me Bunnahabhain 12.
ОтветитьGreat video Rob. You nailed the bourbons so I'll give the other whiskeys a try if I can find them. Cheers!
ОтветитьNice list ! I would also suggest these for the money :
- Deanston Virgin Oak 55 CAD
- Ledaig 10 75 CAD
- Elijah Craig 48 CAD
The Glenfarclas 12 I thought was young and spikey. I gave mine away. Is the 15 that much better?
ОтветитьAll of these plus Glen Scotia 15. Currently available at 91 tax in its astounding value. Also Ledaig at 75, for those not in Ontario we are charged 120 for talisker 10 for reference.
ОтветитьGreat list Rob! I like this angle on the set. I would love to see you do a top 6 for each of the categories you mentioned. Glenallachie 12 for $60 CAN?! Hehe, we shop at the sale AB stores 😉
ОтветитьThe GF 15 is $113 at the dreaded LCBO now....still good value but beware the batch variation! We definitely got an exceptional batch last year so I hope when a new batch arrives it will be the same.
I'm also hoping they'll bring in the Arran 10 at some point but it seems they just get random stuff like Amarone finish instead...
Good list and proof that there are still solid buys for a small budget!
Your not finding Glenfarclas 15 at $60 US because there is no Glenfarclas 15 in the US :)
ОтветитьLove the vid and the recommendations apart from the number 1. We don't agree and that's cool. Talisker 10 for £30? Some of the high proof Arran ticks the box
ОтветитьSadly Glenfarclas 15 isn’t sold in the U.S. that I know of. And I’ve seen many a Compass Boxes but haven’t seen the Orchard House yet in my travels 😔 Solid list tho, cheers 🥃
ОтветитьAbsolutely agree with the Glenfarclas 15, Arran 10 and Lagavulin 8. However, I felt the Glenallachie 12 was a major disappointment after I bought and opened a couple bottles of the 15. I do like the 15 but even that started to drop a little after drinking quite a lot. It somehow feels like the whiskies from Glenallachie are over matured to perhaps hide some lesser quality distillate. The 12 is nowhere near the 15 and I feel the 15 is still fairly reasonable for a whisky of that age.
I cannot wait for Billy Walker to start working with his own distillate and barrels in the near future and that the quality increases overall.
Rob, Glenfarclas 15 or Amrut Fusion?
ОтветитьGlenfarclas 15 is a great shout. Always a cracking pour. Only gets better as the bottle level goes down.
ОтветитьGood list Rob, have you tried the glencadam 10? I like it even more then the arran 10
Ответить$60 CAD for Glenallachie 12?? SAQ price is now $96!
ОтветитьRob, great list. Glad you offer some honorable mentions / options. I keep passing on the CB Orchard House but need to grab one.
ОтветитьI love Glenallachie 12....also Wild Turkey 101..Arran 10...think i need to try Lagavulin 8...😋😋😋
ОтветитьGreat list Rob, in the UK I can get the Port Charlotte 10 in the same price range as the Glenallachie and the Lagavulin so that would be on my list as well. I might also go Glencadam 10 which is also great value, cheers man!
ОтветитьGood list , i liked ))) Cheers !
