Another tip I've found incredibly useful for both turtle and battle engie: if your tele isn't level 3 and some of your team is about respawn all at the same time, hold on the last wrench swing to upgrade it until a teammate uses it. Doing so instantly refreshes the teleporter's cooldown (sometimes, thanks Valve spaghet code). Additionally, if you built your tele with the eureka effect, you can teleport three teammates in about seven seconds, compared to the fifteen seconds a level 3 takes. I have saved games by getting a medic combo back to the front lines a few seconds faster.

It is very much a situational tech, but a useful one if you can capitalize on it!

I just had a thought for those of you who like to run annoying bots which kill servers… imagine a sentient team of engineers all of which can immediately communicate their current states, loadouts, positions, activities, and reasons for behavior, allowing for a synchronized coordinated effort by a bunch of bots.

Played engineer for 500+ hours and i learned some things... 'Nuf Said.

I've been using... about 50% of these tips to the battle engi mindset, and i gotta say: it works like a charm! Most of these situations come very often and this video singlehandedly solved each issue i had with engi. Tbh, im going to use more than 90% of these tips, amazing!

i feel like the version of battle engi you described is the version of engineer that is supposed to be played on offence as it allows for the engineer to actually be viable in order to help the team push forward and capture the point or push the cart

how did you get your crosshair to change colours like that? I tried to write a script that changed my crosshair colour every 1000 tics but it crashes my game when joining sv_pure 1 servers (for some reason..)

Another great thing for the widow maker is placing aggressive dispensers behind cover and defending it with a pistol till it’s ready to feed you ammo. A dispenser can be a huge boone to your team and widow maker ammo supply

This video is what influenced me to really delve into battle engineer, and I thank you for that Dane!

I set up the loadout binds, but it doesn't automatically switch for me like he displayed in the video. I still had to visit the resupply cabinet for it to do anything. Anyone have a fix for this?

Ok I get your point about medics not ubering engineers but you're missing a big chunk of the picture. The average engie's got more on his mind than just shooting people, he's got his supportive buildings to maintain and upgrade. Medics don't usually uber engineers not JUST because he has only a shotgun as his main damage dealer but because every second the engineer is ubered is another second that a spy can sap his nest or a different uber close by is ravaging his nest. Battle engineers are the exception and not the norm, and most of the time medics are going to be more concerned with seeing if you're a spy rather than seeing what loadout you have to differentiate you from a regular engineer. Which is a real shame because an engineer almost guarantees that you will have damage from two different angles which is a tough decision for the enemy team; do you prioritize keeping the ubered engineer with a crazed look in his eye and a loaded crit-boosted shotgun at bay or the non-ubered never miss technological abomination that is his sentry gun?
