Complex subject, complex video. I understand the basic point contrasting how MIMO and booster address needs, but would appreciate another presentation minimizing information overload; my head is spinning. T-Mo hotspot Frankin T10 and Inseego MiFi X Pro M3000B have no antenna ports; how is external MIMO for those possible still? Please link add'l info.

Speed isn't everything; for nearly all applications relatively low but consistent throughput is required -- I've had 5 MB Comcast cable for years and do Teams video calls while Netflix streams over Roku -- no harm mixing business with The Crown -- without trouble. A better demonstration would be from very weak signal areas. Also, demonstrate the value of upload speeds, which indeed are essential for video calls. In general, the video presents the "what" clearly and meaningfully, but could better emphasize the "so what". Thank you!

Arent Boosters illegal?
All boosters in our city are being confiscate because it disrupts the signal of people who dont have booster

I fixed data boost with a Starlink antenna, the problem is requiring Cellular voice boost in Mexico as our Cell signal is bad to our house. Would a antenna hooked to a hotspot allow our Cell to ring and achieve voice ? We have TelCel and AT&T Mexico, neither of which appear to support using our Starlink data connection for voice though work perfect for WiFI.

Great video guys. I already pay for a mobile data plan and want to use my phone as my mobile hotspot, rather than use something like the jetpack since I'd need a second plan and a sim card to go with it. At the moment I use a booster amplifier but in light of what you said I'm looking for a mimo antenna and simple amplifier as well but not one that has a hotspot built in, I just want the amplifier. Does such a thing exist? Many thanks

Cel fi Quatra boosters are MIMO but theses aren't designed for small roaming applications yet. For boosters to remain competitive moving forward, providers need to develop MIMO versions for roaming applications like ships because out at sea spacial diversity can dramatically enhance ability to process a weaker signal as you mention with "two ears" . The best thing about a booster vs a mimo antenna plus modem router application is boosters are very easy to set and usually very easy and robust for end user to connect to providing they use the carrier bring booster. They also don't require a secondary wifi network when used on portable devices such as mobile phones.

Hi guys, thanks for the video. May be I could ask you for little advice, which actually isn't so little. I'm living in dense urban area with massive power outages for the last couple of month. When power is offline in the block people tries to connect to Internet through mobile and closest cellular towers that still working om batteries are overloaded. So, obvious solution here is try to get to some far cellular tower located in another city block up to 6-7 miles that currently has electrical power and therefore I can expect good mobile speed. So I need directional antenna that cut out still working, but useless near towers and connect me to far one. I can lock my modem to the tower on CellID, but there's a question: which antenna suits better in that specific situation? Can I expect strong signal with, like, 15 dbi panel MIMO? Or I need more powerful one, and if so, which antenna has wider effective angles - panel or logarithmic? I mean, which one will be easier to point to a tower and get a signal. Thanks.

There's another possibility, a mobile hot spot and WiFi calling. With the hot spot, you can connect multiple devices, not just phones. I use Wifi calling at home, because it provides a better signal than the cell network. However, it can be used wherever there is a WiFi signal.

Thanks for the helpful info. If I get a MIMO antenna, then hook it to a hotspot router, wouldn't I have the additional expense of cell service for the router? Maybe I'm missing something.

Generally the reason boosters won't improve speeds is be because they will increase noise and signal. Hard to say the CQI and MCS will increase in order to get higher speeds. Also, MIMO isn't as effective in that marine locations, because of course mimo is for multipath environments, particularly those with fast fading - which of course marine is neither. I get about 15% improvement.

Thansk for the informative video! I need better cell service while traveling and use a Verizon MiFi M2100 5G UW hotspot which isn't any better than using my Google Pixel 5 as a hotspot. Is there a mimo antenna that would work for this device? It only has a USB C port.

Rural install about 5 miles from tower and my Nokia unit is laying horizontal 26 inches above the window sill. You need to login to your Nokia and keep refreshing it till you find the best location.

I've been using a WEBoost whole home for over a year. I am using the Nokia (T-Mobile) gateway and on Band 66 my RSRP without a booster is -109 and with -69 SNR -13. My 5G signal (Band N71) is -95 without and -82 with. Download speed using Speedtest without booster was in the 40's and with upto 147mbs with. Normally during busy times 90 + average. You need to use T-Mobiles new mobile coverage map and put in your address and it will show you what direction your signal is coming from. so you can aim the antenna in that direction. Btw I bought the 617mhz yagi antenna form Wilson to allow me to pickup 5G bands.
So this solution not only was a big improvement for my cell phone (AT&T) but home internet also.
