Good work Dagogo! - a really interesting episode! Having lived through all that you talk about and being involved with a lot of it, it was great to see you consolidate the histroy into a digestible couple of episodes!

To speak plainly, Intel CPU's are still the most powerful on the market, in theory and according to their spec sheets

But if you want to run a modern intel chip, you need to sacrifice efficiency, speed, or total price in exchange for the other two.
Want to run fast and efficiently? You need specialized water cooling.
Want to run fast and cheaply?
You're going to run way over TDP
Want to run cheap and efficient?
Youre going to thermal throttle below rated speeds.

Get one of the Ryzen line. Ive got my 5 3600 running on the stock cooler, at TPD, overclocked to 4.25ghz on all cores. Theyve come a LONG way from that FX garbage line.

opinions never flatter the opinionated. nor would they ever flatter the thing being "hated" those opinion touting nobodies, really are something.
@coldfusion let us know when you make billions of dollars, and have sold trillions of product. (you never will, just another jaded hater)
next time, let a professional do your build, as well as maintain it. i've had zero problems with intel, my whole life( half a century )

Ok, not going to watch this. You repeat the bullshit from the title… inventor of the cpu. RIDICULOUSLY WRONG. A CPU is not defined by being an IC! Decades before IBM had CPUs in their mainframes. And what about Konrad Zuse? Maybe you need to google this person. I met him in Munich in 1979.

laughing stock? that is a little bit harsh. AMD wasnt a laughing stock when they were behind. this is normal to have companies compete like this and lead for a while before falling behind. they will catch up again. AFAIK AMD have no fab plants of their own and Intel are making about a dozen of them.

The important part about the first microprocessor chip, is that it followed the Von Neumann architecture. Though the 4004 was only a 4-bit machine, it's programming followed a method understood by mainframe programming. Bill Gate's wrote the BASIC interpreter on a mainframe, to that could run on an Intel 8080, that was used on the MITs Altair. The first personal computer, on that Popular Electronics magazine cover. So even though the first microprocessor was a revolution, it more importantly wasn't too much of a revolution ! Any engineer that understood the inner workings of a mainframe computer, understood the first microprocessor.
