im just tryna get something i can play my tv sound through and my phone and vinyls but i dont need it to be surround sound should i still get a AVR or will a Stereo and amp work better

I have 2 speakers and I'm just gonna watch movies and listen to the T. V, what should I use?

I know this is an old video, but I just watched it. I have a 5,1 surround setup with Roku speakers. I don't have a separate amp or receiver. You said we have to have an amp in order for speakers to work. So, I'm assuming my Roku Streambar must contain one?

Do you have any advice on hooking up old school speakers and making them Bluetooth receptive to a stereo receiver?

I thought a receiver was simply an integrated amplifier. pre + power in a single box, with an additional Radio unit included. Maybe its just different here in the UK.

A receiver has the ability to receive signals like radiovawes, the amplfier does not.

Sadly, low end receivers are cryptic in their 4k support. 4k 30hz isn't good for games or those with a 120 or 144 hz display. If they don't say on the specs, I assume 4k 30.

No no no absolutely wrong. an amp supply the high power needed to drive an loudspeaker to provide a wide specter of connectivity and regulation of the sound ie volume bas treble etc you connect a pre or controlamplifier that levels the input level of the sources you wish to use with your setup a recordplayer tape recorder etc. if you combine the preamp, amp and a tuner in the same unit you have a reciever , if you combine a preamp and an amp in same unit you have an integrated amp.

For the algorithm

One ability of my video receiver is to play Dark Side Of The Moon in its full 5.1 Pro-logic glory. A well produced album sounds great on 5.1, even if it is initially meant for stereo.

What is the trick I tried a simple conmurder even all the way up to apps of 90 still didn't worked so I was thinking a trickle charger with 12 V battery This would not have been my first choice but I think it's the most reasonable

It seems the component and set up of av receivers are more complex than that of stereo receivers. Then why the stereo receivers are more expensive than av receivers?

You want powered speakers with digital inputs. So, no amplifiers or receivers. It's not 1970 anymore. You can do so much better.

I though receivers had radio in them! So receivers are devices that receive (ahem) signals that are either already amped or will be amped by the receiver. So an amp only device just amplifies the signal and stops there??

I have an older receiver/amplifier - Yamaha TX-V393. I wanted to hook up my phone preamp to it...WHen I connect it, it sounds muddled and far worse than just the built in one in the Yamaha. It may well be time to upgrade or switch out a new Onkyo downstairs, but anyone know if this Yamaha accepts phone pre-amps? thx

I have a Panasonic Wi-Fi and Bluetooth dvd player and a onkyo 5.1 tx-393 amplifier and I have Polk speakers the technician connected my speakers to the tv and dvd player so I get stereo sound, and I’m quite happy with my setup but when I tried to search for the 5.1 ch system I came up to 5.2, Is 5.1 obsolete?

I have an issue affecting the seniors out there, as we get older we experience hearing loss. Many times it is not sufficient enough to require hearing aids, but does require increasing volume to hear audio, especially dialog. Unfortunately turning up the volume for many movies means being blasted out of the room during the action scenes. I have found that increasing the treble and lowering the bass helps, but our Sony TV does a lousy job. Since a receiver has this capability, this would be the better choice over an amplifier. But there is another issue, if there is another person in the room. The sound from the added speakers may be too loud. Bluetooth head phones would seem to be the answer, but that feature on my TV turns off the TV speakers for others in the room. Both the amp and the receiver would solve the issue but the ability to turn up the treble would be lost with the amplifier. Am I on the right track? Any suggestions?

What I want out of my home system is a way to control the maximum volume coming from the speaker, AND at the same time control the minimum volume as well. So, when I'm watching TV, I can hear everything on the show even when they're whispering AND when the commercial comes on I'm not blasted out of my seat because the sound from the commercial is way too loud.
How do I do this? Is there any equipment out there to accomplish what I want?

You need a receiver to run an amp. Put those two together you get an integrated amp / AVR/ stereo receiver depending on what you buy. And amp/power amp does nothing else except send the signal to the speakers. It can receive usually one source from a integrated amp or a pre-amt which is a receiver without the amp.
So there is basically just 3 things. Amp, integrated amp and receiver where you can choose with or without video on the receiver part.
