Remarkable 2 vs Onyx Boox Note Air 2 Plus

I'm on the fence about getting either of these for work. My only question is would you know if PlanGrid is a compatible app on the Note Air 2. My coworker confirmed that it works on ReMarkable 2. This will be a deal breaker if it's not compatible on the Note Air 2.

I have this BOOX Note and the Scribe and KOBO Elipsa. Scribe is my goto but the BOOX note is great for art and drawing and more templates!

Was going to get a Remarkable 2 but a paywall is a no go.

What is the best system to buy if you are a student wanting to take notes and then import it with word, one notes, ocr, pdf etc at computer and epaper-tablet?

Asking for my son who is going ro study in a few months and I am wondering to get one myself at work.

I think the Onyx Note is similar to the Kindle Scribe in functionality but I prefer the Remarkable 2 for distraction free, optimal focus environment and high level learning tool. I definitely agree that the Onyx OneNote integration is a plus but when I need to isolate myself from all temptations then my Remarkable 2 is my only option. I don’t need nor desire multiple devices (phone, iPad, Computer) to keep track of. The Remarkable 2 with Connect allows me to archive and retrieve my notes from a single location. Onyx Note is a great product but nothing can replace my iPad Pro for that range of functionality but the distraction level is super high.

Does it connect to Google Docs and Google Drive?

Seems all these features that were behind a subscription before are now free and the subscription for cloud is a lot cheaper. Does that change the conclusion at all? - I like the idea of Android but the apps are not that well optimised for eInk so you end up needing to fiddle with settings like disabling page turn animations on kindle, the remarkable still looks a lot more sleek both software and hardware if your requirements are distraction free note taking.

Hello...do you need a sim card or how does it transmit to other devices? If it has a page auto save, where does the device save its documents?

I just purchased the Rem2 and am actually looking for a decent folio alternative and happened across your video. I was curious though if id dont the right thing going woth the significantly less expensive Remarkable.
Actually, you've convinced me i did. I have an Android tablet, in that i have a Chromebook, my phone, a desktop, and the Remarkable was to be for non-distracting writing. Watching this review made me realize the Onyx would put me right back into distractions again, the very reason I bought the Remarkable. This gave me the answer i wanted. The purchase of the Remarkable was right fir me. Now, back to my search for a perfect folio.

Interesting video, Thanks. I am looking to take notes, with a pen, file them under different project headings, and then add tasks on to-do lists, which then i can link to my calendar ( I use the iphone calander for this currently ( but happy to change if needed).
Can I accomplish this all easily ( has to be easy for me to use), on the Onyx please

Damn I might have to return my remarkable when it arrives.. I use OneNote for work that would be so useful and screensharing!? Audiobooks?! Damn that thing making the remarkable look like some indie nas device software

I think they need more work. It's not a very mature technology yet. Compared with iPad and other tablets, writing on that screen is not that good, there is some lagging between the hand gesture and with the device actually write even with keyboard is worse, you can see it on the video. Anyway, I think this device need a stronger Ram and little bit wider too so you can write with little bit more ease. Thanks for the review

I hate how you cannot simply edit existing Office documents in RM2. Instead you end up creating new copies which can then be uploaded back, so from a collaboration perspective it is a disaster. The Office app integration of the Boox is a total game changer.

Brilliant video. Thank you so much. A couple of things. Does it link with evernote - can i store all my writings on evernote? Does the stylus have an eraser? Does stylus and case come free? How thick is it compared to Remarkable. Remarkable I feel is a rip off - basic features only available through a subscription plan. Really? Anyway, thanks

I fully understand what you are saying. Consider that you like me are on the Apple eco system, Is the Onyx still better than the Remarkable 2 ? And if you just need to replace the paper notebook, is the Onyx also still better. I ask because i am considering "something", but havent decided which to buy yet.

I wished i had found your channel before my purchase.
Wanted to read books and also use the Remarkable as a note tool for work. But you can not even read books on this ereader. So stupid. Why does Remarkable create an ereader and at the same time it does not allow you to read epubs on it. Most books are not in pdf but in epub format. Bloody useless. I feel betrayed. I am betrayed.

I’m looking for something that I don’t have to pay monthly but I can use it with wifi and be able to take notes but I can have these notes with me where I don’t have to download them onto another device necessarily. Also is it similar to an iPad where it has storage?
Does it happen that the notes get deleted (by mistake) or does it keep them secure?

Ok - convinced that Onyx Book is better then the Remarkable 2 - but you mentioned it works with Android and Google play and I have only Apple products - is this a MAJOR drawback???

Branden, thank you for your honest impartial review. I have decided to purchase the Onyx Boox Air2 Plus. I am also installing your organization Kit for professionals. Getting it set up with One Note makes it easy accessible. Thanks for the insight.

Is the warranty transferable with these devices ?

Is it possible to flip it, so the sidebar thing to hold onto is in the right hand, for left hand writers?

Can you use work/school accounts with the Air2?

I have to warn all viewers that while Remarkable 2 is quite an overadvertaised product without enough "oomph" to beat EInk tablets it's still not as bad as the review makes it sound. First, the device is cheaper is you opt for non-standard pen and case. Yes, that might be a hassle, but you are not forced to go with the defaults which might not suite you. Second, all the features you would expect from the device (synchronization, sending to email, presenting, etc.) are now free of charge.

Is Remarkable 2 capable of actually SYNCINC with Google like in both directions or is this just a backup function?

I was about to buy the remarkable2. Yet, after doing some research, with your presentation being the final confirmation, I decided to go forward with BOOX - the latest BOOX Tab Ultra ePaper Tablet PC.

That $7.99 plan is so insulting. I think that's put me permanently off ever buying a Remarkable. It's exploiting the customer. That Boox does look interesting though.

Seems to me a lot o the things talked about here like the split screen and downloading apps completely defeats the purpose of what the Remarkable paper tablet is suppose to be. When you can do split screen multi-tasking it's no longer distraction free. If I want those features I will get an iPad for an experience that's 50,000x better. The purpose of a paper tablet is for it to be like paper. Not an Android tablet.

What is the learning curve on this? Can i download my books to read on it?

I LOVE my Remarkable 2 despite its downfalls. I may like a better e-paper device, than you for this video. I would 100% offer my husband my Remarkable 2 to my husband.

The point of remarkable is that it DOES NOT have the full Google apps store. It is distracting. So you are saying Boox is better because it has something Remarkable specifically doesn’t have on purpose and is not wanted by their target audience.

Hardware doesn’t matter? Ok…except the writing feel on remarkable hardware is HAND DOWN better than Boox. Period. I love mine. But software on remarkable is slow as sh1t.

I heard the boox screen is very fragile cause it's a glass screen. Do you know anything about this? This is so far the only reason I'm hesitating not to get a Boox.

I work in full-time ministry at my church and use a program called Logos. I have a pretty large library on Logos and on Kindle… I’m wondering if Onyx Boox Note Air 2 Plus is a place where I can access both libraries along with my Audible account. Can anyone help me figure this out?
