Actually, he didn’t kill Anakin because only the chosen one could defeat the Sith, and none of them could match against Palps (who would just find another apprentice as usual)

Plus, like Batman, he used the ole “I won’t kill you, but I won’t save you either” trope as he figured being burned alive with all limbs cut off would do the trick 🤷🏼‍♂️

Also, waiting for someone to come to their senses whilst Vader is going around hunting and killing other Jedi and Rebels is the epitome of a passive protagonist. It's a pet peeve of mine for the Bad Batch, and I hope Kenobi would address what Obi-Wan is thinking as he sees Vader and the Empire expand throughout his exile. That failed kill for his morals, was it the right choice? Need to see that inner turmoil between waiting and taking action.

EDIT: Furthermore, we must see that bridge between the man who refused to make the killing blow on Mustafar vs the man who is complicit in the plan to train Luke to commit patricide and regicide. The man on Mustafar gave into sentimentality, but somewhere in between then and OT that man decided to withhold the knowledge of the Skywalker parentage to keep Luke in check for his training (or more likely, in track to kill his father unburdened by sentiments and attachments). Somewhere in between Mustafar and the Death Star, Obi-Wan lost hope in redemption.
