My uncle has a 1960 Hummingbird
which is actually the first year they were made. Its in good shape for a 60 year old guitar. He told me he paid around $250 for it and its worth at least $7000.

Not to be nasty but I watched the vid of the honey colored 2020 model and it looks and sounds better . though I am a Martin guy the Hummingbirds are so precious angels 😇

Oh my god - i love the sound. Man, i thought i like martin guitars, but i love gibson. The beatles messed me up, i really feel the sound, it goes through my hole body. Gosh, u play so damn well - it is physically positively demanding to hear that. And the guitar is beatiful. Sorry for the guitar nerdgasm, but every guitar player can relate <3

I’ve always thought of Gibson models as some mythic entity that wasn’t within reach unless you were releasing multi-platinum albums. The Hummingbird was the first Gibson model that tempted me at a moment when I could’ve afforded it (in the spring of 2005). Instead of that guitar, I grabbed a Minimoog Voyager synthesizer; that was a better choice, since it was one of the last few overseen by Dr. Robert Moog himself. Although I own and play 2 Guild acoustics, I still fantasize about getting hold of a Gibson Hummingbird.
I might’ve gotten an Epiphone version, but it strikes me as “taking the easy way out”.
