Thank you! I did not know I could wind with the stem. I thought when I turned it with little resistance, it was just free-wheeling. I sure got tired of the watch stopping when I took it off for a few hours. I lost my instructions to this watch and had it stored away.

How automatic winding didn't affect the movement, while movement is function.. During automatic winding the mainsprings rotates in opposite direction of the power release know(am I right or not).

My corgeut always stops at 1 o clock at night thats when the perpetyal calender moves and needs lots of energy

Thanks for such a helpful video. Just got a refurbished automatic Seiko watch from an Indian seller on eBay. It was going pretty well until late tonight. Then it stopped. Might just be I haven’t moved it enough today. But we’ll see. I have a good watch repair guy who can probably get it back up and running if it stops too often.

Time is a cruicial part of the illusion of reality. Every living thing, even protons exist on "borrowed" time. Time is a thing i have zero control over. For me it flows forward in a lineer fashion. Heck, even i am a moment in time. Thus, tracking it over an automatic and setting it now and then occasionally is a nice reminder to myself rather than totally forgetting about it over a quartz.

How change time on this watch?

Thanks for simple explanation in you video, I saw that Seiko 4R36 movement has both automatic (rotor) & manual winding. so if I want to make it work from stop, I can manual wind for couple of rotation, let says 5 time and by keep moving it, it will also wind / charge the main spring? is that correct?

Great video, my automatic Marathon GSAR automatic stopped this morning at 5:00 am I noticed. The concern I have is that it is my daily wear watch and it supposedly has a 30 hour reserve, so I suspect an issue with the watch.

I have an automatic seiko of my grandfather lying around for more than a decade now because we had no idea how an automatic works so we thought the watch is dead and will not work ..... Took it to many repair shops and everyone just refused to work on it and my god I'm laughing my ass out right now😂😂😂...gave it a little shake and the baby is running amazing. Despite the objective advantages of quartz watches over automatics, I just feel much better having an automatic on my wrist. It's like it's the right thing. The only thing I Don't like about automatic watches is that they're more fragile and maintenance costs quite a bit, depending on the brand and movement.

Thank you Very much for this great video! i came from an automatic diver watch. to owning an automatic dress watch now. and i was wondering if its normal that it doesn't need to screw in like i used to do on the dive watch. i feel so stupid. i just wonder if the button is pressed all the way in on my seiko dress watch if its tight enough to be fully waterproof or not.
since i'm also able to wind it and rotate it. i don't think its fully ceiled of from water. even tho it looks tight.

Appreciate the video. Even tho it is now 4 yrs old. Today i got my first auto watch. (Jan 21 2023) A Tissot Seastar 1000 powermatic 80. I can see that spinning weight in the rear but thought to wind it the weight had to do full 360 turns. Thanks to you i know that just the back / forward movement is enough to wind it.

Been thinking about getting a halfway decent watch for a while. I have an 10yr old + Wenger battery powered. Was ok but wanted something that looked nicer. Also have an Apple watch but got tired of it. Was looking at different brands and did not want to spend over 1k$ Canadian. Saw the Seastar on Tissot website and loved the look of it.

Found one in a local mall store. Got a decent price on it in think. Got it for 849$ Canadian (plus tax) ~ 635$ USD + tax. (MSRP is 975$ Canadian)
