You just blew by, TURN ON THE SUBTITLES!,,, Darn, I can not use my Apple TV due to my hearing compromised. Turning on subtitles is hard usually I can not, only option is turn off Apple TV. If I manage to, soon as tv off no subtitles when I turn back on. I hate this version, like all NEW apple products. Way too many options. You have a mind for this crap, many do not. Help¡

In truth, a HDMI 2.1 output on the new Apple TV is currently redundant. It would be necessary for an Apple TV 8K, but support for higher refresh rates is rather pointless as standard TV shows and movies cap out at 60Hz. I guess, unless you’re a big sports fan, as I believe some sports streams are occasionally at higher refresh rates although am not certain on that.

HDMI 2.1 is more useful for modern game consoles and gaming PCs and for 8K TVs. For the Apple TV 4K, it’s more of a marketing buzz word.

I actually prefer Roku for the ‘what did they say’ feature… just click the ‘back’ button and it jumps back with subtitles. One click, that’s it.
I like how connected and fast and easy the Apple TV is, but I think I still prefer my Roku Pro… I’ll have to keep learning about the Apple TV tho.

Anyone know how to turn a TV on or off with the 4K remote? It only has a few buttons…

you were showing us how to turn on/off tv with remote and then yours was set to OFF... what??? and then you mentioned how nice that feature was... but you must not use it since yours was set to OFF

It will put it in a folder just like iPhone. Just hold an ap over some other app and a new folder creates

My apple times out after 10 minutes or so. All my other apples don’t any recommendations

Of all the wonderful things the new remote can do, I don’t think there is a way to tell it how to turn on/off my non-CEC television. Would have been a nice addition to “Learn remote”.

Def like how fluid the UI is but wish I could do Atmos over DD+ on Arc input like I can with the Roku Ultra. Apple TV refuses to do Atmos unless you have eARC input forcing you to buy a new tv. I don’t understand their logic on preventing a large part of the market from getting Atmos. Color, UI and apps are nice on Apple TV but overall Roku Ultra is better since it’s cheaper, better remote and you can do Atmos over ARC.

What is name of app to use?

I'm using an Apple TV 4K 2021 model and I couldn't see any 4k @ 120 hz option in the video and audio settings even though I'm using a certified HDMI 2.1 cable. Does Apple TV does not support 120 hz yet or is there any other tweaks that I should do to get the 120 hz option.FYI- my Tv supports a frame rate of 144hz.
