Thank you Psych2Go for this great video! The disorders mentioned in this video are sadly very romanticized and fetishized in the media and portrayed wrong. As someone who has Cyclothymia, OCD, and GAD among other things (I have issues ik im working on it🤣) I am very thankful that people are de-stigmatizing these disorders! The thing about cyclothymia is that it’s a strange form of bipolar because the manic episodes are very short lived. For me specifically, I live in a constant state of persistent depression, but sometimes I have hypomanic episodes that may last anywhere from a few hours to two days, but never longer than that. Because of this I was incorrectly diagnosed with PDD for a while but now I have the correct diagnosis and can properly get help. To be honest, although cyclothymia is classified as a “rare” disorder I truly believe it is much much more common than people think.

A recent diagnosis I have had is Pyscho NonEpileptic Seizures (PNES). I am rare that I live with both PNES and Epilepsy. This could be a good video to do.

Can schizophrenia really be caused by drug abuse or is the person born with it and abusing/using illicit drugs bring it out? Ps this lady has a nice voice.

As someone with High-functioning Autism Spectrum Disorder, ADHD and depression, thank you so, so much for this… I’m so damn tired of people telling me to just ‘cheer up’ or ‘just give it time’ when it’s not something I can turn on and off, it’s not a fucking light switch and it’s not like I chose to be depressed or weird I’m just like this

there was this person who texted me that she told her cousin she has depression, and then started a argument with me saying that I don’t have problems and that only she does because she had depression. When I asked her if she is even diagnosed with it, she went on to tell me that you can’t be diagnosed with depression.😀

I on lived a terrible life with my OCD. It impacted my life hard, and I loved with it for 3 years or many longer. But I never told anyone, until my parents figures or out.
Let this be a message to you all: always tell someone about this kind of stuff!

I have a friend who's both schizophrenic and has OCD as well. I love her so much. Hearing about all the painful experiences and misunderstandings she's had with both friends and family in her past really makes my heart ache, but it's true😢. I'm glad she's in a better place now and that awareness of these things is being spread out bit by bit

I don’t think they should include only 6 invisible disabilities/metal disorders, there are others like autism, adhd, add, anxiety and more

what’s also incredibly important is to know that there are different types of these disorders and everyone experiences them in different ways, which is probably why we take in assumptions about them that may look completely different from your type of that disorder.
all a disorder/disability means is that your brain works differently and you might struggle with things that other people might not and you might find some things really easy that others find really difficult.

a disorder is NOT and NEVER will be a choice, either you were born with it or you have developed it over time.

you should always remember these inspiring quotes and remember you are only human <3

‘Not all disabilities are visible’

‘It’s not a disability, it’s a re-ability’ (applies only to autism, adhd, add)

I actually don't think Schizophrenia is that misunderstood.
People do acknowledge it's seriousness, and don't disrespect it.
A Schizophrenian will never be told "just stop hallucinating", or things like that. Unlike other mental disorders, like depression or anxiety, where other people just tell you: "just stop being sad" Or "just stop overthinking".
It isn't the case with Schizophrenia.
The general public actually acknowledges how it's a severe nearly untreatable mental ilness, and people usually don't encourage the person with their advices.
I don't think Schizophrenia is a widely misunderstood condition.

As a person with depression people will tell me “just be happier” it’s so mischievous more than that. If I could be happier I totally would. Another misunderstood disorder is misophonia. It’s becoming more understood and there is a lot more recent information on it lately. And I’ll tell people I don’t like some sounds and they really bother me and they just say” oh a ton of peop,e don’t like chewing “ it’s not just that it’s pretty much all sounds humans make other than talking, singing, or humming for me. And it makes you want to hurt the person doing it or just break down. Some people are more sensitive to more sounds and others less but a ton of peop,e don’t have it.

As someone with a few of these disorders myself, I can confirm this is what it feels like. For example, if I'm having a panic attack and start worrying about the smallest things, people always get confused and say "get over it". Same thing with my depression. People say "Why are you so sad? You have no reason to be!" And I believed it. So anyone out there with any disorders, just know you are supported by many people, and that people who say things like this should be ignored as best you can and that talking to someone always helps!❤❤❤

Chrono fatigue is also extremely misunderstood, people always tell me “just go to bed earlier” “I’m tired too” “that’s the same as burnout, I have that” no, it doesn’t work that way, chronic fatigue doesn’t go away no matter how much sleep you get (hence the word CHRONIC) and burnout is completely different but I don’t know how to explain it. With chronic fatigue you can even get out of bed, just lifting an arm can be impossible to do
