I remember when AEW started I thought of Tony like people think of Nick Khan or the TKO board these days. Ultimately it was always his company but I didn't think he try to be the Vince, Heyman, Bischoff, etc running the show from guerilla. They were marketing themselves as the Elite's promotion, a place ran by guys who had been working their way through indie wrestling for years. Eventually, Tony put himself front and center, so they lost their grassroots image.

AEW is the wrestling version of Velma.

One of thebig differences between companies is that Tony insists upon doing everything. He insists he can handle it when he can't. HHH isn't out there negotiating with Netflix he lets other people do that. He lets someone else negotiate the mountain dew and prime energy drink sponsorship. Its a real organization where things are delegated.

When AEW started it was easy to follow 2 hours vs WWE's terrible product. Now its 5 hours plus WWE is the best its been in years.

For the people that has been watching this for a long time I think it's amazing that they're using the old thumbnail of Tony Khan it's funny

I know a lot of AEW fans will say that people who don't like the product are just haters who refuse to give it a chance. But when you look back at these old videos, they really set themselves up for failure. They promised so much and gave a lot of people so much optimism by what they said and then almost completely failed to deliver. Most of those AEW fans who criticize the "haters" today, were also the ones cheering alongside the now "haters" with enthusiasm for what Tony/Elite/etc. said it would be back in 2019.

fun thing in my life is that I listen to this podcast in a fashion that my wife can hear it… She’s not into wrestling but finds Jim entertaining, so it’s one of the few podcasts I listen to not on my headphones.
