Ship Life, Ship Life, Ship Life... A revamp/overhaul of US maritime operations. In the same way, Aircrew has to get certain hours of rest, manning, and oversight; this needs to be applied to fleet operations.

I was a surface warfare officer (SWO) from 1976 to 1980. I got out because I was exhausted. Junior SWO's are basically doing four jobs. They are running their divisions, standing watches, performing collateral duties, and working to earn their warfare qualification. The sleep deprivation was a real issue. Even though I was in a long time ago, I would bet that present day SWO's are going through pretty much what I went through.

They are trying to retain them and I am desperately trying to get a SWO position.
