Never forget, that the government may not make the best decisions at the time, but you're doing what you're built to do. Just do that, and keep your chin up. When SHTF, your Brothers next to you are there to support you. Just return the favor at every corner.

Edit: Just to say that the opening airplane taking off is an iconic sound of MCRD San Diego. I lost count of the number of times our DIs had to "Platoon halt" every time a plane was roaring.

If you're going to San Diego, make sure you remember the Sea World fireworks. It's a little bit of hope while you're drowning.

Also, seeing the date, September 11, is significant to me. I joined June 12, 1999, and graduated September 10, 1999. Not he 11th, but close enough.

I was serving the day 9/11 happened.

I flew back from Iraq on September 11, 2003.

Don't know why, but God put made sure I remembered those dates. Maybe it's to tell you that you'll be alright.

I’m a second generation Marine, my dad served from 38-46 and was in the South Pacific. He passed before I turned 17 and he rarely talked about what he did there. I joined the Marines and served from 68-70, with most of my time at Chu Lai 68-69 1st MAW MAG 12. I was VERY lucky to be stationed on an air base and not in the boonies.

Just graduated boot camp last Friday. Boot camp sucks but it’s so filled with comedy that it balances it out. Boot camp is the funniest place that you can’t laugh at.

I got out of the army 2 years ago. I’m only 24 but man I’m seriously thinking of re enlisting again and going the marine route

I’m thinking of joining the military when I graduate highschool. Im scared because I have a lot of flaws and fears but I think I’ll be able to overcome it. However I must admit I’m going to get screamed at alot for not following directions because I need someone to repeat directions to me if they scream it to me at a fast pace.. since English isn’t my first language it takes time to understand it.
