Can I remaster this video in 8k HDR using Upscaling and AV1 Encoding?

Strange but this video looks terrible on my LG OLED. The highs are blown out and clipped. It’s not brighter and the HDR comparison don’t look any different than non in the video. I’m having this issue with a lot of HDR videos that I’ve been trying to post lately. What a mess.

And it’s now august 2023 and after upgrading to my iPhone 14 Pro Max I can record HDR and colour grade and render it on my MacBook Pro M1 ultra.
The metadata is inferior, to the human eye it’s indistinguishable. Resolve comes with a detailed user manual which explains CST and 300 500 and 1000 nit HDR. Learn this and you’re there. I favour 300-500nit far fewer people lose out due to their device display spec.

Then why did you? Who asked for it? As far as I'm concerned nobody gives a damn about 4K, let alone HDR! We're all okay with HD.

the new MacBook pros come with HDR displays as well as the iPhone 14 pro, man HDR movies and videos are just beauty to watch. I started thinking to sub only to HDR creators, just kidding.

you need special card to send out the HDR signal to an HDR monitor or tv if i got it right?

HDR on windows is still a mess.I only turn it on when gaming or watching HDR video's. for the rest I keep it off. Because it makes everything else in windows look horrible

I'm sorry, but that's utter nonsense . You most certainly can NOT get true HDR monitoring for under $500 … that's ludicrous. Just because various OEMs advertise with little "HDR!" stickers on their monitors, they most certainly are NOT HDR. Particularly when the screen doesn't even get anywhere close to a minimum of 1000nits ! All they do is apply some sort of horrible tone-mapping to the screen in "HDR" mode, effectively doing nothing other than simply down-converting to (absolutely horrible looking!) SDR..

I dont get hdr videos rendert with the free version of davinci resolve.

I refreshed the video 3 times thinking MacOS didn't catch this was an HDR video then I just let it play. Then 25 seconds into the Video he tells me it's not an HDR video LOL it's kind of like a giant GOTCHA 😂🤣

What if someone was recording HDR footage on a non-HDR monitor? And color grading wasn't being done at all? Would this still yield a good experience for those with HDR and those with SDR panels too? Or will it give a strange result?

Hi, I see you use Benq 321c and Asus ProArt PA32UCX. Do you find Asus superior to Benq as a low entry "reference" monitor? My head is swollen from choosing what I should buy :) I need two monitors to be trusted in post production studio ( not necessarily in critical color grading )
