Advil is tremendously effective for back, knee and hip pain. Tylenol is almost always worthless. Doctors hedge because Tylenol is safer -- it's true when they warn that excessive use of Advil is dangerous If only Advil is working to reduce serious back pain, you probably need surgery. Surgery is not a happy alternative, but that's my estimate, based on years of experience. Straight talk.
