Personally - I like this car !

He is out of date after the software updates which have been added since. There is now genuine one pedal driving with full stop now for example.

Do your research properly…AC is controllable from steering wheel also

My money would be on the Trophy, rear privacy glass makes such a difference in terms of looks and comfort. Newer batches now have a rear wiper, 3rd headrest and grab handles.

What a not very good review. Was any research into the features done beforehand? You can set your favourite buttons to the AC for very easy access. The wheel trims are to protect the actual alloys and to help with aerodynamics and therefore range. Scratchy plastic? So what? Who gets into a car and scratches plastic? Seems like scratchy plastic is an obsession with car review channels.

Obviously didn't do a proper review as behind the plastic trim on the wheels are alloys and you can change the climate settings on the steering wheel with a toggle switch very poor review?

Why wasn't the kWh/mile efficiency covered? Seems a huge miss for a test.

I purchased the MG4 within days of watching this review. My vehicle soon experienced leaks and software issues and has sat at the dealership for months. 

When it did run, the claimed range was nowhere near what was advertised. I was fortunate to get 130 miles from a full charge last December (if that).

Please avoid this terrible brand no matter how cheap they price it, and buy only from companies that have ethics at their core. MG is anything but ethical.

Just bought one, with a 19 week wait. What reviewers seem to miss out is that it has voice command to change heating settings, fan speed and many other features so you don’t have to search through all the menus, it’s always missed out??

I reckon the standard range is the pick. It uses LFP battery chemistry, rather than NCM battery chemistry, which means you can charge to a higher state of charge without risking degradation, and will have a longer life (better for re-sale value).

I have one. I'm totally blown away by it.

best looking electric car so far and great price for electric but still out of most peoples range - If you can afford an electric car you have to be loaded to start with so you are more likely to go for a more expensive brand

281miles - that's 450km! Hard to see the range anxiety arguement being a reason for not considering the MG4 LR.
MG in NZ are still evaluating the MG4 for this market. I hope they can bring it here and at prices similar to or less than the MG ZS EV (NZ$50k!)

For 30 grand I could buy three classic Mercedes that would go up in value.

Think very carefully before buying this or any other MG. My son took delivery in early November of a MG4. Returned it to dealer within 24 hrs. Several problems plus an employee damaged the offside front wing which MG have not been able to replace.
Reports of very long waits for replacement parts are becoming common.

There is a Alloy wheel under the ( Naff as you say ) wheel cover...the cover is there to aid with distance efficiency.

A couple of things I would add in this video:
The Aero wheels are designed for weight saving and aerodynamic purposes.
There are two shortcut buttons on the steering wheel which can be programmed to take you directly to various sections : i.e. climate control on right button and drive mode or regen settings on left button.

It makes for a great company car and you might even get change from your car allowance! Don't hold your breath 😉

Poor review. I suggest you watch more than this one. It’s important to be fair and that is missing here. Won’t be back at this channel very poor journalism.

Why didn’t you mention or critique the difference in battery types between the standard/long range versions of this car

Honestly this car is Much better than VW ID3, I wouldn’t be surprised if MG increase the price in the near future

Still way to much for the average family. Alot of families are struggling to heat Thier homes at the moment. Electric is going up every six months. Most electric cars will probably be a write off by the time they need a new battery pack.

My £2k Skoda is huge. 55-60mpg. Still going strong after 215k milage.

No mention of lack of rear screen wiper (important safety issue), no mention of lack of parking sensors (safety issue), no mention of the car constantly bleeping at you which must be turned off every time you set off to drive (major and unnecessary IRRITATION issue), no mention of claimed 280 mile range vs actual (real life) range of 200 miles, apart from that an excellent review, thank you.

No bad products, only bad prices

The plastic wheel covers are for making it aerodynamic, not for saving money. You can remove the covers and have the normal alloy wheel visible instead.

Err the right hand star button on the steering wheel takes you straight to air con etc, then use the screen. I found that out on my test drive. The left hand star button is also customisable from a list of options.

The presenter obviously wasn’t told about the shortcut buttons on the steering wheel? 🤷🏻‍♂️

This is a strange video. 0-60 in 7.7 seconds is not just "fine" for getting up to motorway speeds, that's rapid considering most average fuel cars are 9-10 seconds.

I'm a bit annoyed by the amount of "if feels cheap and plastic-y"... damn son, you started the video talking about this being the cheapest car of this type, being the budget option. Of course everything is gonna be a bit crappy

It's not the prettiest at the back, but I'd have this any day over an ID3 and I'm a VW fan.

Not risking lives by changing my air con on a pissing screen

My home town is surrounded by wind turbines which make the town more or less self sufficient in electricity. If I charge this car overnight then I’ll be approaching ‘near minimal’ environmental damage. Which does make a lot of long term sense.

Are MG EV’s reliable compared with other EV’s? Has anyone done comparative reliability tests?

Yes people, pay 4000 more Euro for non-scratchy brands..
It's really annoying that all these people reviewing MGs are "complaining" only about the quality of plastics. On the other hand, if this is their only disadvantage, it means they are very good cars.!!

Cheap, sure. Directly funding to the chinese communist party, the enemy of democracy and free will? Absolutely.

Anyone buying MG should be tried for nothing short of treason in my view.

Nice looking car. Unimpressive specs/numbers.

So basically its on par with id3 quality, has more physicall buttons and is 10k€ cheaper. If I'd have to pick, this is no brainer.

Take the wheel covers off dum dum. There are alloys underneath. The covers help with aerodynamics. Terrible review.
