European vs American cars at drag racing....
An example of what happens when your car is a fat lardy lump of crap that needs 5 litres just to get the wheels to turn and you can't get the power down because you're still using suspension that they used with the horse and cart and it's racing a car that isn't any of those things.
US cars say : "look at me, I'm a fat greedy big mouth, and I'll win".
EUR cars say : "shut up , fat ass, and try to follow me".
Funny how cars look like their owners : too bad for US.
And I don't talk about quality and reliability...LOL !
(by the way, it's not very fair to compare modified US cars
to regular EUR cars, but even when cheating, US cars fail).
Please US, don't try to sell that crap in EUR : it will never work.
Sell it to Saudi Arabia : they've millions of tons of gas to waste.
It's all a matter of weight versus power. European cars are usually significantly faster when it comes to power versus weight ratios.

ОтветитьThe shown Mercs (s, cls, c) are mostly AMG with 6.3 litre engines and i must guess...starting at around 600hp. Correct me if im wrong.
My almost 20 year old VW Passat 3c Variant with its 2.0TFSI (200hp stock) modified to ~300hp still runs 260km/h (~162miles) with no problems. Super reliable car and motor.
There is a Netflix show that gathered various cars from self built to hypercars and a Tesla. A Lamborghini, I think it was a Aventador won by a mile and it was mostly due to the 4x4 (and a few hp though it was stock)

ОтветитьAs an european i see some reasons to this. Engine torque on traction or 4wd vs full power on props, drag races are too short for us cars... if it was like 3 time longer power would make à "comeback"
And when you have eu props its mostly due to launch control for me. Having 1500 hp is no use if you cant transfer it efficently
People might already told you but the Audi RS3 has a 5 cylinder engine and not a 4 :)

ОтветитьMcLaren is an Artura, V6 hybrid, that's why it only got a 12.2, but kept up with the Durango SRT Hellcat, which looked more like a Trackhawk to me, on launch. Audi S3 with a tune can put out some crazy numbers, but I still prefer my B7 S4, 4.2L V8 DCT AWD. It only pulls 12.9 in 1/4 stock, and it's hard to get much more out of it because it's NA and shoeboxed in, but I still love the car, and it's one of the very few in Texas.

Yes there are some drag race. But in germany is no drag racing place.
I know only one airport where drac racing event is onece a year and at a racing circuit is one drac racing event.
No permanent drag racing place is in germany.

ОтветитьThose races in europe were on an airfield close to the german and dutch border. The Mercedes wasn't a regular S class as you said, it's the CLS63 AMG it's basically an S class coupé. And those RS3's are not running a 4 cylinder tho, they're running a 2.5L 5 cylinder engine and it's one of the best engines Audi has ever built. That blue BMW is a 3 series from the E9x generation probably a moddified 330 or something bit as you said not an M3

ОтветитьThe problem with most newer American cars, especially the Dodges, is the weight. Hellcats are 4500 lbs, so even with 707 HP they aren't that quick.
