What if Gregory isn't possessed, but instead created the glitch trap virus? Patient 46 manipulates Vanessa yes, but Is also seen hacking into the pizzaplex's security and uploading some sort of virus that replicates itself and caused the animatronics to act weird. So maybe Gregory is a follower of glitch trap as well?

My prediction is that they didn't appear in ruin dlc but the balloon animatronics are gonna be in fnaf balloon circus so it might gonna be happening!!!

Ok, while I think it’s a very bad narrative decision for Steel Wool to make games that basically require you to have read the books to understand, the DLC shows they absolutely are, and so I really hope they get to keep making stuff until we get a full (after the partial) heel-turn reveal of Gregory. Imagine you’re playing the next game with Gregory and Freddy, and suddenly Freddy has the realisation it’s Gregory causing the hacking of the animatronics while he’s mid-programming something, and now Freddy the animatronic is running for his life (everyone’s lives, so many lives) from the *human*.

FNAF: Into Madness is obviously symbolizing MatPat and all other theorists descending into utter insanity.

This could also explain exactly why Freddy wants to help Gregory, since when Gregory wasn't under Glitchtrap's control he probably created "safe mode" as a way to assist himself if anything ever went wrong.

him being possessed by glitchtrap doesn't add up for me because then why doesn't glitchtrap just possess him when he steps out of line like he does vanessa? while one of the therapists call out the patient being a manipulator.

the tapes seem to imply that the patient is working independent of vanessa & glitchtrap towards a goal they're willing to silence anyone who gets too close to discovering the truth. and if we're entertaining the idea that the books are canon then it's quite clear in ruin that cassie is an accomplice of his working toward that same goal.

Two things. One is that you actually forgot to mention that Chica is on the video game high scores screen as well, marked CC (Chica Chicken). Two is that I think that it is actually Vanessa talking to the therapists in the tapes.

I'm not a big fan of Gregory being patient 46, it feels like it'd be more fitting if it were Vanny. I also just don't think that a young homeless kid being an expert hacker and able to kill 3 therapists just doesn't feel fitting...

Truthfully, I got most of this without the books. It's my additional theory that we aren't actually playing as Gregory in Security Breach -- we're playing as what's controlling him. We're opposing Vanny, with our mutual link explaining why we (the subordinate process) start to have visual glitches when she shows up. Remember, there's no indication that Gregory sees the glitches that we do -- he never comments on them or reacts to them. Nor does he react to Vanny's "Are you having fun yet?", indicating that it may be transmitted through our connection.

In other words, Gregory isn't the player character -- he's the pawn. We are the player and player character, and it's us that Vanny is talking to.

What if fnaf world is a game in the pizza plex that is also possessed by glitch trap making the glitches and secret area's, that would explain the different save files and why the characters know they're in a video game so throughout fnaf world we are playing as different kids depending on which save file you choose and we find bugs that lead to secret area's made by glitch trap, it would also explain the secret path in update 2 that leads to the graveyard from the beginning, also a version of the game is 8 bit just like other games in the fnaf time line(coincidence? I think not)
