Many people may not know how much the Persians have contributed to the arts and sciences.
Rumi is only one of the poets. Iran is full of them even today. Shame that Islamic regime has contained the people and art. If Iran becomes free it’ll be the heart of spiritual awakening for the world.
The man who knows what love means, is a man of God 💕

Brazilian Portuguese translation, for those interested.
Deixei tudo e me liguei a você.

Rumi in Persian means 'from Rome (as in ancient empire)'. It is a title for this Persian poet born in the part of the Persian empire presently called Afghanistan. Together with his father, he left Persia out of concern for their lives since the Persian empire was under attack by the barbarians known as Tatars, a Mongolian tribe. He ended up in Konya( in present day Turkey{ Turkeye}). Konya itself was adjacent to Byzantine Empire, also known as Eastern Roman Empire, therefore, the assignation Rumi. His full name is Jallalaldin Mohammad Balkhi, where Balkhi, as tradition had it those days, means from Balkh, his birth city, then in Persia.
Jallalaldin Mohammad Balkhi( جلالالدین محمد بلخی) was profoundly in seek of Godly truth, he did not fear death but rejoiced becoming one with the One when his call comes. In so believing he was of the opinion that death is the beginning of a new life, be it in a different form. This should not be mistaken with the notion of 'reincarnation' or 'transmigration'. He believed, were it not for death, life would not be possible, and that by dying there comes new lives.
The style of his prose is highly surrealistic, long before the notion was discovered by the literati and painters. He would go in deep trance in becoming one with the One, in a state where he couldn't utter his feelings in other than masterpiece prose. His poetry parts much wisdom, Godliness, heavenly beauty, and musical notes in words.
Rumi wrote in persian language...but does this make him persian? And does it really matter? I don't know. I guess Rumi would have said..the meaning matters not the shell...
Rumi was a Tajik from Khurasan. Music is iranian but the poem is Balkhi Khurasani (Afghanistan).
