So many simply factually inaccurate statements in this video, opinions about the city aside. Chicagoland funnels far more money downstate, with the shrinking downstate population, compared to what the small downstate population contributes compared to the growing metro area. The city and area has not lost home values, which continue to rise (too much for many). Chicago has NEVER been the crime capital, ever. O’Hare, which is undergoing a massive expansion, already has the most flight destinations of any airport in the US.

Lightfoot was probably the worst Mayor in history but this new Mayor Brandon is going to try hard to take that honor away from her ,well those silly people who elected him will sure get what they deserve since ever those socialistic democrats went soft on crime and their lack of incarceration and punishment of criminals, crimes increased many times over and the only people dumber than those crooked woke ,criminal loving socialistic democrats are the fools who are electing them over and over again

After reading most of the comments, What stands out is that most people that lived in Chicago or lives there now loves the city. This video is a complete exaggeration. Chicago is a great city. Period.

I lived in Chicago and loved everything about the city. People were great and it was full of culture, and things to do, and just normal stuff that happens in cities with seasons ( yes it is cold in the winter ) ....I think the crime happens in certain areas like in other cities, and you just stay away from those areas. Who knows, maybe things have changed, but many other cities have a ton of problems also. I will always love Chicago and have great memories.

Chicago is Hell on Earth!

Chicago is a beautiful city, with some of the best food, architecture and cultural attractions on earth. Stay out of bad areas (as you would in any city) and you'll be fine. Even in 2023, it's one of the best cities to visit on earth.

Demographics. One reason sums up every problem.

I live in northwest Indiana and I used to go down town Chicago twice a month and spend money and have great time . Now since Covid I’ve only been there 5 times and three of those times were because of work . That place has gone down hill and now the ridiculous high crime from the south and west side is pouring into down town and it’s a shame .

The #1 reason to never move to Chicago is Cubs fans.

All of these reasons, are why states like, Illinois, Michigan, Ohio etc. shouldn’t be considered the Midwest. They should be considered the Mideast. Geographically, I’m technically not wrong.😂

After living in Chicago for 4-years, here's my take. First, although it's called "The New York of the Midwest," it's STILL THE MIDWEST, with the same rather small town attitudes. Second, the weather. During the coldest time of year, it can be downright LETHAL. In fact when I lost my keys in the snow right in front of my apartment building and was locked out, I got severe hypothermia and nearly died, passing out for 48-hours after someone mercifully let me in, thinking that only eight hours had passed. My doctor told me if I had been out there for only 5 or 10-minutes more, I would have passed out right there on the sidewalk, quickly followed by coma, then death. Third, the rent. At first my rent was incredible, with my view of the Chicago skyline the best in the entire city. That's when Oprah Winfrey bought the entire block next to mine and my rent instantly DOUBLED. Fourth, the women. They are perhaps the ugliest in the entire world, and I've lived in all four major US cities. So single men, take note. And finally, Chicago is an extremely SMALL city. After the first year you'll probably have seen and done everything there is to see and do in Chicago. So I ultimately left simply because of it's extremely "low ceiling." It has it's charm as any great city does, and might be good for families if you have the money, otherwise it's just a brief stopover before you begin seeking larger horizons.
