I appreciate your channel to learn about Fairfax co. If you had to make the move to the dc metro area again, like you did in 2013, would you have chosen Fairfax county? Or what area near dc would you have chosen?

I was born and raised in FFX County. I grew up in a neighborhood next to Herndon High and currently live in Oakhill. No complaints here and consider myself fortunate.

Fairfax has Too many shopping plazas

Is there a lot of cockroaches and lizards in northern Virginia? I’m from Colorado and we barely have bugs here so whenever I see on I freak out

Hi my fiance is moving from Nc to VA
And we don’t know if Fairfax is roght from him as a renter

There are no swimmable beaches in Northern Virginia and the Potomac is one one of the dirtiest river the the country. And there’s lakes; but guess what? No swimming. But we can go swimming here in the summer in real non-pool water with beaches. But we don’t do not want any of those Northern Virginia egos moving here. Too many people here already. And you have to raise you hand and swear on a Bible never to reveal where this is.

And sure, we looked at some advantages to at least having an apartment in Northern Virginia; closer to Washington Airports, real shopping malls, more and bigger churches, and etc. But honestly the real estate expense, and traffic is so disadvantaged, it’s super hard to justify the costs. Especially how that money is best placed into investments and travel expenses.

Fairfux County, where they fux you fairly, and fux you fairly often.. That's their motto (the bureaucrats)..

Can you give the avg. price of HOA's for townhomes or if you purchase a single home avg. costs for water, sewer, lawn care etc? Thanks

Also I’d add that people are pretty friendly and nice in northern Virginia, just not on the roads. Don’t get in their way when they’re on their way to one of the many area Starbucks 😂

People here have no common sense. People just do 10% of work just to say they did something during their 8 hrs. Excuse number one is , "it was busy." If your work is getting busy, you should adjust accordingly

I'd say one of the worst aspects of Fairfax County is the employment, especially working for the county government. They stone wall you on any promotion or obtaining a more FT job and there are many abusive bosses who can yell and talk down to you. I heard one Fairfax County worker had a pen thrown at her by her supervisor. So it's best to avoid employment with Fairfax County government as it likely will take a toll on your mental health. Additionally there has been an exodus of Fairfax County workers walking out by more than half leaving.

Loudoun County to the West of FFX is a little richer, and a little newer (and our streets all have sidewalks because most neighborhoods were built after building codes started demanding them). Something to think about.

To add to the list. If you're young and looking for things to do on the weekends, Fairfax is not it. You will find your self driving to Maryland and DC for everything.
