on an alt i have i opened the mail to get the anniversary goodies from blizzard then abandoned the alt for a long while. when i came back to him he still had the xp boost thing, since i didn't open the container that was in the mail. it lasted a little while until perhaps blizzard caught wind. but it was neat while it lasted.
