I love your work.
I was designing a 2 wheeler EV for my our startup and this video really helped me decide the battery.
Could you tel something about the difference in structure between spinel LiMno and LFP?
ОтветитьGreat video - I have been looking for this info. Well done!
I have one unanswered set of questions though: How does fast charge vs slow charge (home AC wall socket) affect battery life? Is it different for LFP, NCA?.
I have a feeling that fast charging does hurt battery life, and this video makes me think that LFP might suffer more.
LFP is the mass market choice.
Ответитьhaha nextmove seems to be a really valuable source even outside of germany^^
ОтветитьAmazing. Note, LFP contains no kobalt making them more 'human' friendly.
ОтветитьCan you do a structural battery pack with a CATL or BYD LFP battery? Or is this only applicable for 4680?
ОтветитьAnd that is how fast innovation can work. Latest Tesla LFP batteries have 210Wh/kg.
ОтветитьFantastic video!!! I appreciate the hard work you put into this ❤️
ОтветитьCan LFP made tabless like the 4680 ? Or they already doing that ?
ОтветитьThis video made me keep my standard Model 3 order with LFP battery. I was struggling with going with long range NCA version. Thank you.
ОтветитьEnjoying your videos
Would you be willing to include the links to the sources of information like the doi of the papers you use?
Would help with understanding more when curiosity kicks in :)
Very informative. Thanks.
ОтветитьWhat a great video ! But still there is one thing I am confused about, should LFP Tesla's keep charged at 100% if parked long term ? No one seems to know answer to this, not even Tesla. Their manual does not say anything about LFP SOC when it comes to long term storage.
ОтветитьHi. Fantastic videos! Do you have a reference list which has any of the diagrams and tables?
ОтветитьPlease can you say what is the nickel and cobalt content for your NCA in the energy density and other calculations? Many thanks.
ОтветитьLFP is good but wait for sodium batteries
ОтветитьWhat Is The Best Pratique for lfp charging
ОтветитьBig Love for your work, I just become a huge fan of you.
ОтветитьWhat I like most is this reggae feel good intro. Well cut and welcoming as the content.
ОтветитьVery high quality video, thanks !
ОтветитьWow I wish the Model 3 charged at Ioniq’s rate!
ОтветитьThanks! Best chemistry video I have seen. Had been hearing about the safety of LFP vs NCA but this is the first time I have seen details. Personally, I would prefer a Hyundai or Subaru at this time. I am currently a Crosstrek owner and my litmus test is being able to carry an 8 ft ladder inside the cabin. Thanks for the great info.
ОтветитьGreat video, thank you. I’m brand new to the EV world. Just bought a model 3 with LFP last weekend. At this point, I’m very happy about my decision to go with LFP. I live in a warm climate so it made my decision a little easier. Very interested to see how well it performs over time.
ОтветитьIncredible video ! French Tesla owner
ОтветитьGreat content loved the detail
I imagine the lithium iron phosphate properties would impact on electric bikes Etc where passive cooling system related advantages would be paramount
I was hoping bide New Zealand would bring out the BYD T3 Electric van or similar with its blade batteries and vehicle to load capability
so far they have taken the more profitable option of compactMPV
oh well another few years of fossil pollution will stain my footprints
Cheers

I think you went way to far into the weeds on this one. It is a good job no doubt but to long and way to much science for a car buyer.
ОтветитьThanks!
ОтветитьWhat temperature will a Tesla cooling system try to maintain the batteries at inside my scorching hot garage here in Vegas? How much would that effect range?
ОтветитьLFP is not suitable for EV.
ОтветитьI bought a new Model3 LFP in 2021, since I drive about 60.000km (37.000 miles) every year. I'm planning on keeping it until the end, hopefully 10 years, 600.000km (370.000 miles). The winters here in northen Europe gets really cold, but driving even in -25C (-13F) the M3 LFP works just great. I think salty roads and therefore corrosion we be the death of this car, not the battery ageing.
ОтветитьExcellent video and summary!
Ответитьnothing to say just unbeliable!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
ОтветитьOk, who worked out the percentage figures in the chart? The heading is 'differences' but that is not what is being shown.
ОтветитьCorolla started production in 1996..?
ОтветитьGreat Video
ОтветитьThis Video convinced me to buy a Tesla Model 3 SR+ in 09/2021.
I was impressed by the LFP battery, how it works and especially his predicted long life.
LFP has come a long way since this video. Charging curve much flatter all the way to 70% and no huge cold weather problem. LFP will be in a lot of cars in the near future.
ОтветитьSo only time will tell on real world use. I am opening LFP model 3 that’s only 2 years old with cell imbalance. Not as easy to repair as old school model s module that were made to be replaced on OG panisonic cells. People never talk about cell imbalance but car will stop charging and if sits too long that entire large slice of pack goes bad very quickly
ОтветитьHi Jordan. Do you think there's going to be a phosphate shortage in the next years because the incremental demand in battery production and agriculture? It's a very interesting and important topic and there's very little info out there. Thanks! This channel is invaluable!
ОтветитьFantastic video. Does anybody know whether it's bad to NOT charge an LFP battery to 100%? Tesla recommends M3SR(LFP) be charged to 100% every charge. Does it ruin range or negatively affect the battery/car if I DON'T charge too 100%?
ОтветитьSuch a great talk. One of Jordan's best and simply the best treatment of this subject I've ever seen. Makes sense out of so many confusing counterclaims and data.
ОтветитьGreat video!! Let me ask you! I can charge my Tesla SR everyday to 100%. Should I do it or should I charge 80% daily and 100% once a week?
ОтветитьVery interesting!
ОтветитьHi Jordan, big fan! So if one wants to maximize battery life and minimize degradation, what would the optimal charging strategy for an LFP pack? Up to 80 - 90% on weekdays, and charge to 100% at the end of the week? Or should we just keep it to 100% always?
ОтветитьFantastic information. However, none of that matters the second you get behind the wheel of a performance trim Tesla, and it absolutely blows the doors off that slow ass LFP “base” vehicle . Absolutely not worth the practicality , longevity , and efficiency benefits of the LFP when you’re slower than a gas powered Toyota Camry .
ОтветитьFantastic video Jordan! No one can explain better than you in layman's terms. I hope everyone will realise how LFP will revolutionize the EV space and Grid storage. Specially for Grid storage with limited SoC window able to cycle 15k -20k cycles or 15-20 years lifetime.
