Sure glad I found this vid as I have the same rough idle problem in a '03 Explorer 4.6. New plugs, wires, injectors etc haven't helped much. I suspect a vacuum leak as it's periodic and the engine runs great and makes power. I suspect the plastic intake manifold but first I'll have to make a smoke machine. Thanks for posting this!
ОтветитьOne of the best descriptions I've ever heard or seen of a vacuum leak diagnosis on fuel trim excellent excellent video
Ответить❤❤❤❤❤
ОтветитьThey circled the problem
ОтветитьMy 2017 explorer vibrates at idle no engine light on
Ответитьmy exact problem with my 99 explorer. great video, i loved how you explained every step you were doing, and the logic behind it.
Ответитьif you don't have a smoke machine what else can you do to check for leaks?
ОтветитьGreat teacher.
ОтветитьThanks and glory to Jesus Christ for your help
ОтветитьQUESTION: what is the best ‘handyman’ level code reader/diagnostic plug in tool that you would recommend for my 2007 Ford Explorer V8? I currently own an older Innova 3100
ОтветитьThanks a lot, man
Good job
My fuel trims are pretty high 40%....I hit the gas to 3500 rpms and they did not move...any ideas on what the problem could be? Also, I tested all fuel injectors and are working just fine.... after I release the gas the rpms go down to 400 for about 30 seconds and feels rough before getting back up to 800 rpms. Please any ideas of what the problem could be? Thanks.
ОтветитьSubscribed because i think you've nailed down this vehicle.
ОтветитьHopefully someone sees this response.
2007 had a intermittent p0305 p0174:
Parts changed out
Wires
Spark plugs
Coil pack
Fuel filter
Fuel injectors and seals
Intake gaskets
MAF
O2's on Bank 2 upper and lower
Waiting on new pcv valve.
Still has rough idle and smells like raw fuel.
I have used cans of starting fluid looking for a vacuum leak to no avail.
EGR/MAP ?
Awesome video very informative thank you very much
ОтветитьThe gasket for the earlier model is a much better quality, plus it’s a FelPro. Thanks !
ОтветитьYea mine has vacuum leaks everywhere also they leak coolant on the termostato housing wen hot, it's just cos everything is plastic but they are good cheap SUVs
ОтветитьNice video! I’m smoke testing my 07 Mountaineer tomorrow . Trims are about the same as yours positive! Thanks man!😀
ОтветитьI have a Kia vehicle. Upstream O2 sensor is a wide band AFR sensor. If I have positive fuel trims will it be Lean? Just the opposite of a narrow band sensor?
ОтветитьCheck your TPS Sensor too!!....Mine had a rough idle, hard shifting, random stalls....No Codes either. I swapped the TPS, and ALL problems were instantly gone! I could never "prove" it was the sensor....but one day I went to start my truck and the idle started going haywire, Then I had a good idea it was that sensor. But these trucks are notorious for throwing them, people forget that.
ОтветитьI'm having the same problem with my girlfriend's 06'Explorer 4.0 very helpful thanks!
ОтветитьWhat's the deal with Kingbolen? I was shopping for a Launch X431, but they also sell their own brand? It sketched me out.
ОтветитьThanks
ОтветитьSomeone this smart bypassed college and studied himself approved.
ОтветитьThank you
ОтветитьGreat super informational video!!
Do you know how to do this test on the thinkcar scanner.?
Check your charcoal canister, several perch valve, which is located by the engine or if it’s not that one check towards the back of the car I could be the charcoal canister purge valve stuck
ОтветитьVery nice explanation....
ОтветитьI have a 2010 and I have the same problem with it shaking in idle. I had my friend scan it with his OBD2 and nothing popped up except for a seat belt code.
ОтветитьI have a 2009 same vehicle. 4.0 V6 AWD. MINE IS DRIVING AND RUNS GOOD but I recently have a engine light on, but no driving or performance issues. No overheating. I checked the engine light and here’s what it says. P2197(1 / 1) Stored
02 Sensor Signal Biased/Stuck
Lean - Bank 2. Sensor 1
What could this be? If it’s the o2 sensors, where are they located? And how can it be done? Could it just be the Mass airflow Sensor? I wish there’s a video on this because I don’t know the difference between bank 1 and bank 2.
Thanks! Great video.I have 06 with the same symptoms.
ОтветитьThis is the most well versed and informative video on learning about fuel trims and diagnosing them. Thank you!👍
ОтветитьWhy not show the end results?
ОтветитьHelpful video thanks. Shorter is better in this case.
ОтветитьTHANK YOU!!!
ОтветитьWhen people have questions here how come you can’t answer them ? I had a question also but noticed your not answering them back. Any reason why ?
ОтветитьThanks so much for this vid ...
You got a new subscriber ..!! :D
Great job one of the best explanation of fuel trims I've seen.
ОтветитьWow thank you so much. I notice reading my fuel trims the numbers were 30 for long term and short term would be about the same or slightly more. When I'm at 3k rpms. I was driving the other day and only when the vehicle has warmed up I end up having a rough idle. And when I want to accelerate it would bog down and hesitate it would lag or worst case go nowhere and just bog down horribly. Reading these trims I can understand now. I'm kinda bummed out because I bought a brand new Delphi fuel pump from AutoZone and can't believe it's bad or defective. Now I'm a have to check and replace it again. But before I do I'm gonna check my fuel pressure regulator. Only thing I did notice was that my car would trigger a p0301 and then the p0171 is that meaning that the misfire is on cylinder one around the engine in that particular area. I was assuming fuel injector I already swapped it over but I get no check engine light telling me nothing.
Ответитьcrush gasket only able to use one time
ОтветитьHi, a very good video. Is this device compatible with Nissan x trail 2006.
Any help please?
Great demo.. i have same car and same problem but the fuel long reading around 5 and it reduces on high RPM. i guess its not a vacuum leak. Any clue?
ОтветитьMy Nissan Sentra started doing this out of nowhere about a week ago. It used to idle around 500 (1000 cold start) but now it won't go below 700rpm and up to 2000 cold start.
ОтветитьAwesome explanation of the diag. Nice work man
ОтветитьThank you very good video
ОтветитьThank you!
ОтветитьBOOM SHAKALAKA!!!
Nice job, love your videos!!! 👊
I’m dealing with an egr code 34 voltage too high in an oldie but goodie 1986 ford e-150
Exhaust smells rich…
I’ll need to check the vacuum lines next, electrically the sensor and wire integrity checks out, I replaced the egr with one from standard!
It’s smoke time next too!!!
Very annoying can’t pass smog, and OBD1 🥶 can’t communicate with this beast….
thank you Eric,extremely helpful
ОтветитьYou’re a legend
ОтветитьI recently replaced a bunch of parts on my 03 F150 5.4, I did a smoke test on it and smoke was coming from a little cap on the backside of the IAC valve (which is also brand new). I'm not sure if it is supposed to come out there or not...😬🧐🧐
