I know this list is good because you mentioned Rise of Nations. Best RTS ever. I love the balance of micro and macro in that. I like that the units are smart and pick the best targets during fights. I really hate what Starcraft did to RTS gamer's minds about pointless micro and tiny unit selection limits being a desirable feature

Battle For Middle Earth 2 is EASILY one of the best 5 RTS games ever released for real. You can't imagine how much joy it brings me to know that there are people working on a new version of that game 😍😍. I've been wishing hard for that for 20 years:)

Awesome video, I'm feeling nostalgic. But I was surprised that Men of War didn't make the cut I would definitely recommend it. Otherwise, if I had to mention a modern RTS worth mentioning, it would be Gates of Hell. =)

Sone RTS's people always forget about: Dark Reign 1+2, KKND 1+2 and Earth 2140 + 2150 and 2160

so two rts I love playing as a lad I found a copy of an old game in some bargain bin at a store one day called Machines it was a fairly interesting game it was an idea of robots sent to a far-off world to build bases for humans but the humans never came and then the ai in the robots became self-aware and started fighting each other the other is a game called Metal Fatigue I seen an add for it in some gaming magazine and played the demo none stop it's an interesting rts that has three layers of the map to battle in from the sky to on land and the underground mixing combat with tanks and rocket cars to jets and bombers to huge mechs shooting and slashing each other

I would have added ground control 1 and star wars: empire at war.

I get its a top 20 but you missed Dark Reign : The future of war.

One of the fastest RTS games ever and came out with an editor / mod support and adjustable custom AI settings for your units (first one to do so) & it still has a thriving community to this day.

The Homeworld remaster now installs Epic game store crud onto your system. Even if you bought the game off Steam.

I would add my forever favorite - Seven Kingdoms Ancient Adversaries to the list. Second iteration is simply trash next to it.

Seven Kingdoms needs a mention. Super unique and cool, but it has a high learning curve.

You didn't mention the Men of War series, like a more realistic version of Company of Heroes. Gates of Hell is the latest iteration and it is amazing. Best WW2 RTS series imo.

Oh and the RTS overviews were good too, great choices overall. I think Battle For Middle Earth and the other games made on the refined SAGE engine (Generals, Battle for Middle Earth I, II, and Command and Conquer 3) really excelled graphically and especially sound-wise; they've aged so well. It's actually nuts how good BFME II and C&C 3 sound with environmental flourishes mixed in with the weapon noises and unit callouts. Also the modding scene for the SAGE engine still sees tons of love.

I will add Openkrush 1.5 version as it is a remake version of a 1997 rts game.

something worth mentioning is Submarine Titans: great idea, only controls are completely "cra*py". But still nice game to check.
