☑Lets have them do a team time trial through 90 degree bends!
☑Lets do it at night with no street lights!
☑Lets make the start line slicker than an ice rink
☑Lets have no contingency plan for, you know, rain?
Who is responsible for this utter shambles?

Why isn’t this highlight on the Peacock app I pay for?

I love timetrials. They are my favorite stages, but if it's raining and wet like this the organizers need to do something for safety.

Money drives this world, so a regular, old time finish at 5 pm is no longer enough entertainment, capturing the eye of the audience, and all the BS that accompanies total commercialization of our lives. Then you have these disasters. American idiocy has conquered the world.

Not likely to be seen by the commentators, but I'll try again: to sound closer to Spanish pronunciation, you run the 3 vowels together and it sounds like this "Vuelta Spanya"

Worst commentary ever.

Announcers, some friendly advice: Don't talk over each other. Don't "OH, NO!!" simultaneously. You're not Wayne and Garth in the basement, you're putting on a broadcast with an audience that needs sonic clarity on your end. One at a time please. Maybe divide responsibilities, or decide who takes turns talking first and who takes it second, in the back seat so to speak. Rewatch your broadcast and I think you'll see what I'm talking about.

Terrible stage. You can't plan for the weather. But why do some teams have to ride in darkness? Bad planning.

The organizers had their heads up their @ss when they decided to have TT end at night! The first and the last teams have completely different conditions.

Good job to the teams who stayed safe. Smart riding.

The teams should force a stoppage after the start to protest having this stage in totally unsafe conditions.... especially being so dark. No excuse.

ahhh.... La Vuelta highlights on NBC Sports...... it's that time of year again. thank you!  

not only did the riders cope well with ludicrous conditions, but I'm pretty impressed with the spectators' enthusuasm, under the circumstances.

Well that was dumb.

Time trial at night is so stupid. Even better, make sure we can’t see them in the darkness.

It’s kind of remarkable that there isn’t a better wet-weather tire for these guys to use. All the obsession with aerodynamics - but very little interest in building a tire that works well in the wet. Similarly, I can’t understand how many gear failures occur for pros. Can’t we build a group set that simply doesn’t fail?

Waiting for the Vuelta organizers, to:
Explain themselves;
Offer apologies;
Revise any other relevant start times earlier.

This stage should have been cancelled. This isn’t racing. It’s more trying to survive. I wonder if road bikes with wider tires at low pressures would have been faster in these conditions

Bored out of my skull. Team time trial..no. So glad TdF didn’t have one, and glad there was a condensed video to switch to on YT.

The first stage of the race should've been cancelled. TT in the rain and in the dark is not safe at all. Too many riders went down on this stage.

This is an unmitigated failure on the part of the commissaires and the organization.

should have switched to their regular road bikes. Speed was not the issue, control in the wet was.

Movistars are used to working in the dark, but seriously? Whoever scheduled this race so half the teams are riding in such low light should have to walk a tightrope across the spires of the Sagrada Familia at night, with the lights off. This wasn't a time trial - this was a "dumb luck" trial for the winners, and a dumb __ trial by the organizers.

The stage planner has no sense about the local sunset time.
